Requirements:
- USCG Captain Licence/Certification (Must be greater then 56 tonnes to pilot M.V International)
- To be certified by USCG you must be a U.S citizen
- Must be a natural leader and be able to take control in an emergency situation
- Experience with public speaking and group communication is an asset
- High attention to detail and good communication skills
- Must be able to work well as part of a team
- Must be physically capable of lifting and securing embarkation ramps (11kg, or 25 lbs.), throwing ropes and tying mooring lines
- Must be able to take orders from other senior Captain's within the company
- A valid First Aid certificate
- Must have no criminal record
- Must have a valid passport
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Pilot the M.V International on her regularly scheduled cruises throughout the summer season.
- The Interpretive Sightseeing Cruise is a 2 ¼ hour trip that docks at the Goat Haunt Ranger Station in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA for a 30-minute stop.
- The Canada-USA Border Cruise is a 1 ¼ hour trip that turns around at the International Border.
- Learn about various aspects of Waterton Park (e.g. Natural History, Human History)
- Present an informative, entertaining commentary during the 1 ¼ hour Canada – USA Border Cruise
- Clean the boat in the mornings and in between trips with other crew members to maintain a clean and tidy ship
- Check over engines as required and in conjunction with maintenance team to maintain a safe operating vessel
- Interact closely with our fleet maintenance team as to mechanical issues and effective operation of the tour boat

Job description
- Captain the historic M.V International, a wooden passenger vessel built back in 1927.
- Our U.S Captain spends the majority of their time piloting the historic M.V International. (56 Gross Tonnage)
- Operate the M.V International with the safety of all passengers as the primary focus, in accordance with United States Coast Guard regulations
- Provide safe operation of the vessel while acting as the Master of the ship. Strictly following USCG regulations and Waterton Shoreline Cruise Co. procedures.
- In addition to being a Captain of the vessel, you will also have to deliver a high-impact, memorable, and entertaining interpretive commentary. Whether acting as the interpretive commentator, or roaming the vessel as a deckhand, you must maintain a friendly, helpful and upbeat disposition.

When does this job begin?
This job applicant can begin as early as June 21 and work until September 21, 2025.
- Location: Waterton Lakes National Park & Goat Haunt, Montana (U.S.), accessible only by boat from Waterton Lakes National Park (Canada)
- Accommodation provided in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta
- Expected working hours: Flexible, with long days;
- Applicants are responsible for their own transportation to Waterton Park town-site.
