Objective
Having been already in the Yachting Industry since already one year, my aim is now to gain further experience and qualifications to work towards an Yacht Engineer career. Holding the MCA AEC I look for a boarding which allows me to acquire practical bases and the engine time necessary to obtain my MEOL. I also mean to set for the Adv. Fire Firefighting; Adv. Sea Survival; Medical First Aid the next springtime However, I have 14 694 nautical miles for a period of now 10 months as deckhand/trainee engineer with 2 Atlantic Ocean Crossings, the sailing in the Caribbean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.
Experience
24/11/2008 –25/03/2009: Solo Deckhand/Trainee Engineer on S/Y SUNDARA “ 34.5 meters.
28/03/2009 –10/10/2009: Solo Deckhand/Second Engineer on S/Y SUNDARA
Duties on board
Mechanics:
- Assistance to the engineer in the engine room as required (changing oil filters, water pump, connection of the engine gages ...).
- Offshore: check of the engine room: the temperature, the oil pressure, the voltage, the fuel pressure of the engine and generators and change the generators every twelve hours….
- To get ready the tender and the jet ski to run.
- Cleaning of the engineering room.
- Check of all the security and fire-fighting stuff: (use-by date of the extinguishers, of the parachute distress rockets, of the hand-held distress flares, of the fire nozzle…).
Navigation:
- To get ready the boat to sail.
- Hoisting and trim of the sails
- Day and night watch-keeping
- Docking/mooring,
Cleaning:
Hull, deck, tender, jet ski: Overall upkeep of exterior areas (washing the boat, brightwork, cleaning of all the stainless to be rust/ streak free, scuppers, the windows, to scrub and treat the deck, the fibreglass and the hull polished and shiny),
Interior: Tidiness (stewardess assistance).
Reparation:
Hull: Hull refit: to fill the holes up, to sand, to reshape and get the origin smooth shape, to make it watertight and at the end to get a shiny top coat.
Interior: Paint of wooden galley pieces of furniture, interior hardware.
Deck: Repair of a little surface of the teak.
Guests Welcoming:
- Welcoming and attendance to the clients for the toys (wakeboard, doughnuts, jet ski, water ski…)& sea tours in tender.
- Service (Stewardess Assistance).
- Attendance to the Chef.
- Supervision of the Diving equipment.
24/05/2008 – 27/08/2008: I worked for ‘’Melita Yacht Painters Ltd.’’, (in ”Melita Marine Group Ltd”), working in Malta, France, Corsica, Italy, Sardinia, and Sicily:
- Painting on Boats,
- Repairs on paint of Yachts in aluminium (scratches, holes, bubbles, ...)

11/2007-07/01/2008: M/Y "IF" 115' Benetti: preparation of the yacht for the 2008 charter
season with painting and general duties, and assistance to my father for the Engine maintenance of the Yacht.

03/09/-07/10/2007: Day worker to the ‘’PORTOMASO Marina’’, for the firm ‘’BOATCARE’’ in Malta: - Washing the boat, brightwork (Sailing and Powerboat),

as member of the crew of the Family Sailing Yacht cruising in Mediterranean Sea. My father (former Officer in the Merchant Marine and the French NAVY) was the Skipper.

Skils
The upkeep of Boats (washing the boat, brightwork …); the painting on Boats: work on paints on hull (scratches, holes, bubbles) that means that I am able to rebuild all the different coats from the aluminium to the top coat, refill , sand, reshape and get the origin smooth shape, seal and at the end get a shiny top coat.
Very good computer knowledges in MSWord, MS Excel.
I am a hard working, enthusiastic team player who enjoys working under pressure. I take pride in my work and once I start something I like to see it through. I am keen on to learn and further my abilities. I am quick to learn new skills and can adapt to most working environments.
Friendly, people orientated. I like welcoming and taking care of the guests and communicating with all age groups.
Gone into the working life since one and a half year (painter in the shipyard of "Melita Marine Group" in the department of in Malta and then Deckhand/ Second Engineer on a 35 meters Motor-Sailer “ SUNDARA” for 2 seasons , my current target is to pursue a mechanic's career holding already the MCA AEC .
I look for a job which allows me to acquire practical bases and the engine time necessary to obtain my MEOL. The Assistant Engineer position will give me the opportunity to improve myself in this profession while giving me the necessary experience for the engine.
I started to sail very young as an amateur, which gave me the opportunity to start very early my professional career. My enthusiasm, my maturity of spirit and my thirst for learning are the major assets of my candidacy.
My experience with "Melita Marine Group" let me acquire solid bases as regards the paint works ( AWL GRIP); maintenance and repairs on paint of Yachts in aluminium (scratches, holes, bubles,...); varnish...
The three years cruise on the family Sailing Yacht, plus my 2 Atlantic crossings and my seasons in the Caribbean and on the Mediterranean Sea on the Sundara, gave me a knowledge which exceeds the skills a young beginner is asked to.
The assistance work to the Chief Engineer on the Sundara, throughout all the period of my last boarding gave me the opportunity to acquire the bases that you’re right to expect from an assistant engineer.
