Objective

• Assists in installing and repairing wiring, fixtures, and equipment aboard ship and in shipyard facilities: Supplies electricians with materials and tools, using hand trucks, or by carrying material.

• Measures and cuts pipe conduit to specified length, using steel tape and hacksaw. Hooking and unhooking cables aboard naval ships

• Running fiber optic cables

• Threads conduit ends, using pipe threader, and connects couplings and conduit fittings, using wrench.

• Fabricates conduit support brackets from strap iron strips, using hacksaw, shaping dies, hammer, and punch.

• Secures brackets to bulkheads with screws and bolts and pulls wires through conduit leading to connection boxes, switch panels, and other terminals.

• Strips insulation from wire ends, using wire stripping pliers.

• Ties or screws wires to terminals for subsequent soldering.

• Performs other duties described under HELPER Master Title.

Operated a tool crib that services from people by ordering, receiving, storing, issuing and inventorying tools, parts and stock

• Select, issue and must accept returned tools and equipment, requested by shop personnel

• Perform inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records

• Maintain reorder levels by submitting replenishment requests

• Pulls and assembles tools and materials for manufacturing requirements based upon written material requests

• Change carbide inserts in tooling and use optical tool pre-setter to set inserts to specific requirements

• Move tools and supplies to all areas of the shop in support of manufacturing requirements
