Objective
To hone existing skills obtained in the Maritime Industry and to attain and perfect any new skills acquired. This will assist me in playing an enhanced role in the success of the organization to which I am employed.
Experience
My name is Jerome Ricardo Thompson. I am a graduate of the Caribbean Maritime Institute. I am taking this opportunity to apply for an available position as a Watchkeeping Rating within the Maritime Industry with the help of your services. I have attained some knowledge and experience in the capacity of a Deck Cadet and Able Bodied Seaman during my time at sea. I have acquired a Class II/4 Watchkeeping Ratings License (unlimited) and a Certificate of Competence in Radio Telephony and Authority to Operate issued by the Government of Jamaica. I am also trained and certified in Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems by the Caribbean Maritime Institute.
I sailed as a Deck Cadet on a container vessel for twelve months. During this period, at designated times, I engaged in Bridge-Watchkeeping duties. I am also an experienced Deckhand as my time on the deck has allowed me to gather knowledge in Cargo Handling and Stowage, Mooring operations, Rope Work (knots, splicing, rigging etc.), Washing and cleaning the deck and as a Gangway Watchman to name a few. I also have an additional four months experience as an Able Bodied Seaman/Rating on a Research Vessel (seismic) that made a Trans-Atlantic voyage from Trinidad and Tobago to West Africa. In this capacity I gained additional experience as a Lookout and Helmsman.
