Objective
I am looking for work onboard an ocean going vessel as a deck officer.
Experience
I spent all of my cadet time, as required by the Nautical program, with Algoma Central Corporation operating in the Great Lakes Region. I have worked on 3 different self unloading bulk carriers as well as 1 gearless bulk carrier. As cadet I learned a wide range of duties such as holding bridge and port watches, cargo work, emergency duties, maneuvering the vessel, safety inspections and deck maintenance, etc. I earned just over a year of sea time working on these vessels and after completing my third term of school, I challenged the oral exam at Transport Canada for my certificate of competency.
Education
I have my high school diploma and currently am working towards my Nautical Sciences diploma at BCIT in Vancouver.

STCW Watchkeeping Mate, Marine Advanced First Aid, Advanced Fire Fighting Officer, ECDIS, MED Survival Craft, STCW Basic Safety, SEN 1, Bridge Team Management, Marine Sextant
Skils

-Communicate well and get along well with everyone
-Knowledgeable of ship aspects and navigation
-Skilled working with machinery (winches, windlasses, cranes, etc.)
I am currently in my third work term of a Nautical Sciences program and I would like to start earning deep sea time regardless of pay level. My final academic term does not start until March 2013.
