Professional Experience

Receiving Associate, City Furniture, Jan. 2011 – present

Responsible for loading, unloading, scanning, labeling and receiving containers in a fast-pace warehouse/operations environment. Equipment used are hand held scanners and tugs.

Key Achievement- appointed the chief liaison person by request from the Customer Service Supervisor for accurately monitoring the production point between the Operations and Customer Service Department; constantly received incentives for attitude and accuracy.

Driver Helper, United Parcel Service of America (UPS) Seasonal, Nov. – Dec. 2010

Delivering excellent customer service contact skills with a smile by meeting and greeting clients both commercial and residential with their packages; or leaving a legible note to inform them that we attempted to deliver their package. This fast-paced outdoor position involves continual lifting, lowering, and carrying packages that weigh up to 70lbs and a lot of walking. A hand held computer called a D.I.A.D is also used for tracking and recording purposes.



Vessel Supervisor, AMP Terminals; KCT Services (Port) 2002-2010

Supervised the safe discharge, organization, storage and movement of cargo through the terminal. Conferred with vessel agents, harbor pilots, departmental employees and other maritime officials through radio, telephone and or email as needed to ensure all cargo and empties are identified and loaded accurately. Liaison with shipboard personnel which consisted of the pilot, captain and his crew from various ship lines contracted with the port to ensure maximum quality service according to their contract. Coordinated, supervised the onsite movement of all vessels, containers, recorded vessel locations and draft, recorded and calculated fresh water consumption using mathematical operations. Maintained daily log activity, inputted all computer data pertaining to vessel movements. Instructed Crane Operator regarding boom up/down and positioning of cranes at points of work. Acted as shift safety coordinator; reporting any potentially hazardous working conditions, inspected vessel, securing systems, obstructions and housekeeping. Conducted annual performance appraisals according to company policies.

With teamwork, effort & motivation consistently received quarterly goals and incentive by successfully achieving productivity mark regardless of limited resources such a machine downtime through receptiveness to suggestions and promptly evaluating the solution to complex situations in a fast pace working environment.



Assistant Shift Manager, Kingston Terminal Operators (Port) 2001-2002

Responsible for berth assignments as well as the arrival, departure and dock locations of all vessels on the designated shift. Assists in properly planning and coordinating stevedoring and yard operations in a safe, organized manner for maximum yard efficiency. Conducted inspection of docks, transit sheds, and cargo yards and prepared written report of damages and obstruction as required. Ensuring safe working practices are adhered by all terminal operators according to the safety policies and procedure. Monitored the condition of the Port vehicles used during the shift, including condition at the start and completion and reported damages or maintenance required. Coordinated the training of subordinate staff and maintained the work schedule for a 24hr operation terminal. Manually catching heaved from ships attempting to dock and dragging lines to bollards on docks and shipping eyes of docking lines over bollards. Provided creative and innovative ideas to improve operational productivity while maintaining a safe work environment; these duties were reviewed daily through meetings and written reports as it required considerable independent judgement.
