Experience


Sept To-Date - Was spent recovering from hip replacement surgery. During this period, I completed and delivered custom set of Standard Operating Procedures & Emergency Response Procedures to the charter company Sea Wolf Adventures. Additionally, I studied shipboard security practices per Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 (MTSA) and revisions made in 2009 resulting from the increased piracy of merchant vessels and private yachts.



April 09 – Delivery Captain Sea Wolf Adventures, 98ft

• Seattle to Glacier Bay Alaska.



October-Dec 08 – Relief Captain Sun Dancer II, 138ft

• 7-day live aboard charters in Belize with 20-passengers and 10-crew

• Relieved signing-off Captain & Trained new Permanent Captain

August-Sept 08 – Relief Captain Sea Wolf Adventures, 98ft

• Cruised SE Alaska.

• Conducts 6-day charters with 16-passengers and 5-crew.



Mar 08 - July 08 – Relief Captain Explorer II, 125’ live-aboard dive vessel

• Cruised Turks & Caicos, Caribbean.

• Conduct 7-day all-inclusive dive charters throughout islands for 20-guests and 7-crew.



August - Dec 07 – Student Pacific Maritime Academy

• Updated advanced endorsements necessary to renew license.

Feb to July 2007 – Relief Captain/Engineer Northern Romance, 90ft, 200-ton expedition yacht.

• Managed a 7-week yard project in Vancouver B.C., delivered vessel up the In-side Passage to SE Alaska, and conducted corporate cruising operations throughout SE AK.



Jan 2006 to April 2007 – Contract Captain Department of Defense - Ronald Reagan Missile Test Center, Marshall Islands.

• The marine department includes 18 vessels that support day-to-day operations, inter-island personnel transport and government missions. I was cross-trained to operate as Captain, inter-island 170-passenger ferries and 149-passenger high-speed catamarans. The catamarans utilize four Main Engines with Hamilton Jet Drives. After my first six-months, I was promoted to Port Agent, responsible for visiting vessels such as, NOAA, USCG and U.S. Navy. This position required a Secret Clearance. During these 15-months I logged 330 days at sea.

2005 Season – Contract Captain Wilderness Explorer – 125’ inspected passenger vessel

• Supervised major restoration of the passenger vessel for Glacier Bay Cruise Line,

• Transited the Inside-Passage and conducted 7-day adventure excursions throughout Southeast Alaska,

• Carried 36-passengers and 14-crew

2005 Fall – Contract Captain 82’ yacht Kinship II.

• Hired to circumnavigate Vancouver Island, B.C. for the yacht’s owner, family and friends.



2005 Dec – 2nd Captain 100’ Benetti

• Delivered vessel from Seattle to San Francisco.

2000-2004 – Engineering Consultant ECP Service Corporation

• Developed a pre-process system to ensure wastewater treatment operations complied with Annex 1 of the MARPOL Conventions and USCG regulations,

• Customers included: USCG, Washington State & Alaska State Ferries and Horizon Lines, and OCTEL Marine.

• Keynote speaker at the Marine Log Conference in WA, D.C.



1996– 2000 – Captain/Engineer 70’ Yacht Fisher

• Conducted corporate charters between San Juan Islands and Southeast AK. During 1998, explored the most remote regions of British Columbia. During late fall of 1999 I was contracted as local knowledge Captain aboard 107ft Westship.


Education


• Honorable discharge from US Navy after serving 4-years aboard nuclear powered submarines. Attended extensive electrical & electronic schools and Sperry gyrocompass school.

• Completed multiple industry engineering schools, specializing in industrial automation (Westinghouse, Allen-Bradley & ABB).

• Graduated from International Business School of America (Thunderbird), with certificate for conducting international business in Pacific Rim Region.

• Multiple maritime classes to continually upgrade my USCG Masters License. Most resent school attended was at Pacific Maritime Institute during 2007.
