-Stand 12 hours watches while performing daily preventative maintenance on all shipboard systems

-Carry out repairs and work objectives established by Chief Engineer

-Supervise and train any non-licensed engine room personnel

-oversee any third party work being performed

-Adhere to all USCG safety/enviromental laws, CFR's, and company policies

-Ensure all proper paper work is done correctly including logs, dirty oil record book, permits to work, JSEA's, pre-job checklists, etc

Sea Terms

-Gained hands on experience in marine engineering by assisting in the operation of a steam propulsion ship, standing at sea engine watches, performing maintenance and conducting emergence drills

-Developed management skills by supervising and training underclass cadets
