Tugboat operator

Objective

Would like to settle in with an established, stable tug company engaged in ship docking or transporting large petroleum tank barges.

Experience

With more than 25 years in the towing industry, I have broad experience on many types of towing vessels. My experience includes service on hawser and wire boats and operation of single & twin screw tugs up to 7,200 horsepower while sailing as captain and mate. My experience favors heavily towards ship docking, large barge transport and coastal towing.

I began my towing career in Baltimore harbor riding as an observer while in my early teens. My first credential was issued to me in 1983, upgrading to Able Seaman in 1986 than sitting for and passing the examination for Second Class Operator of Towing Vessels, NMT 200 miles offshore in 1987. I upgraded to OUTV (now Master of Towing Vessels) in 1990.

While sailing as tug mate & master in the ports of Baltimore & Philadelphia, I trained as a docking pilot. In addition to making a career on tugboats, I have also sailed in every unlicensed position in the deck department on deep sea American flagged cargo ships.
