Traditional Boatbuilder

Objective


I am seeking to further my career in boatbuilding as i have trained on a 2 year boatbuilding and maintenance course in lowestoft,ENGLAND. I would be delighted to take part in the resturation of any wooden craft or in building from the loft floor up. I would prefer to work with timber as aposed to grp/frp, but i would be happy with decking or fitting out hulls.


Experience


I have assisted with the resturation of a 100 year old life boat under the supervision of shipwrights, including tasks such as antifouling, creating knees, affixing deck fittings(using 'sika' products), shaping and finishing of masts and spars, etc. I have also sealed a teak deck on a 38ft smack(using 'sika' products).


Education


At secondary school I obtained 8 GCSE's 3 B and 5 C



City and guilds level 2 in boat construction maintenance and support.

I am also awaiting results from my second year examinations, were i aim to have achieved level 3 an an nvq level 3.

I also have a performing engineering opperations folder that i will recieve once marking is complete.

I am also aware of basic coshh data sheets and risk assesments.

Also a short course on ARC welding.low carb steel.


Certification


City and guilds level 2



awaiting results for level 3 and nvq level 3 and certification for welding course.


Skils


I have good joinery skills and i also able to arc weld. Also as i have worked as a barmen so can poor an exceptional pint.
