Objective

June2008 – July2009: Lindblad Expeditions Seattle, WA

Position of 2/M on M/V National Geographic Sea Bird/Sea Lion operating in Southeast Alaska, Columbia River, Baja California

•Navigational Officer: Responsible for vessel route planning and safe navigation through Southeast Alaska, British Columbia, Columbia and Snake River (Astoria to Lewiston), and Baja California. Includes tide and current predictions, weather routing, traffic monitoring, maintaining bridge electronics and perform related vessel administrative duties.

•Small Vessel Operator: Oversee and participate in small vessel operations through ice, marine mammals, and beach landings. While standing watch, organize shuttles for guests, transport equipment, and prepare deck staff and crew for next expedition.

•Crew Training Liaison: Direct correspondence with main office to train crew, set appointments for shore training, and assist newly hired employees to comply with company safety regulations.

Oct2007 – Feb2008: Keystone Shipping Company Charleston, SC

Position of 2/M on ATB Tallahassee Bay and ATB Atlanta Bay along coastwise Paraxylene trade

•Navigation Officer: Vessel administrative duties and ensure safe navigation of vessel

•Safety & Medical Officer: Conduct safety meetings and fire and boat drills, inventory all medical supplies, and inspect all safety and lifesaving equipment

•Security Officer: Conduct training and security drills, inspect all security equipment and SSAS functions

•Tankerman: Supervise cargo operations (load/discharge, inert gas system, vessel stability)



Nov2004 – June2006: Deck Cadet (Officer-in-Training) Various Locations

Cadet training aboard M/V Thailand, M/V Maunawili, M/T Alaskan Frontier, M/V Patriot

•Stood bridge watch with licensed officers, maintained ship stability, supervised cargo operations, organized fire drills, assisted in the safe navigation of commercial vessels

•Tankerman PIC Endorsement earned while aboard M/T Alaskan Frontier
