Senior Summer Training Cruise

Texas Maritime Academy aboard the USTS Golden Bear to Long Beach, California, Balboa, Panama, and Hawaii

Cadet Second Mate participating in traditional Second Mate duties such as voyage planning with appropriate chart-work and frequent use of ECDIS software.



May – July 2008/09

Internship

Kirby Inland Marine, Western Rivers of the United States from New Orleans, Louisiana to Chicago, Illinois

Traveled on tugboat as level-one deckhand observing and

participating in tank barge loads and discharge procedures.

SeaRiver Maritime aboard the Tanker S/R American Progress from Beaumont, Texas to Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Stood watch with licensed officers and observed and participated in tanker loading and discharging procedures.

Military Sealift Command aboard the USNS Henry J. Kaiser

Stood watch with licensed officers and observed and participated in vessel fuel loading, CONREP and VERTREP operations.
