Commercial Shipping, Sailed as a Deck Cadet aboard the following vessels:

- Gained practical experience in maintaining and operating a ship through the navigational and cargo watches

- Assisted the Chief Mate with maintenance of the vessel and checked cargo stowage during the voyage

- Assisted Third Mate with periodic safety equipment checks and in port, on watch with cargo operations

- Solely responsible for repairing all hydraulic leaks in the pilot lines on the USNS Richard G. Matthiesen



Internship

Crescent City Port Pilots’ Association New Orleans, LA November 2004



- Gained practical experience with numerous pilots riding ships throughout the harbor as well as making a roundtrip on the Crescent City portion of the Mississippi River

- Learned the dispatching aspect of the job in the office as well as the importance of business with the incoming shipping companies

understanding of the future careers in the maritime industry

- Worked with the Captain to make sure a training environment was present during each trip
