3rd Assistant Engineer, USNS Grapple December 2011- present

• Engineer of the watch – diesel vessel

• Current responsibilities include standing watch while at sea and ensuring proper plant operations. Start, clutch-in, declutch, and secure main engines. Start, place online, take offline, and secure generators. Start and secure auxiliary equipment. Supervision of engine watch team.

• Conduct maintenance items on machinery including taking vibration readings, water samples, changing air and lube oil filters, replacement of macerator pump, troubleshooting control console discrepancies, cleaning heat exchangers, and conducted dock/sea trials during 40 day shipyard rotation.

• Maintain and operate potable water systems, RO units, MSD system, refrigeration/AC units and electrical systems.



3rd Assistant Engineer, USNS Zeus October – December 2011

• Engineer of the watch – diesel electric vessel. Duties included starting and placing generators online, switching between Dynamic Positioning and Ships Control Mode, Changing SCR line-up, placing bow/stern thrusters online, and transferring lube oil and fuel oil.

• Conducted machinery maintenance and collected and tested lube oil from machinery throughout the engine room.
