WORK EXPERIENCE

Sailed as an Engineering Cadet for a total of 301 days aboard the following vessels:

M/V Matson Kauai Container Vessel Steam

Maersk Sealand Meteor Container Vessel Diesel

SS Cape May Heavy Lift MARAD Steam

M/V APL Philippines Container Vessel Diesel



Worked on four different ships assisting the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd engineers with the main propulsion and auxiliary systems, as well as maintenance and repairs on the ship’s engine and deck machinery. Performed a diverse array of responsibilities such as plumbing, pipe fitting, welding, machining (lathe), electrical wiring, pump maintenance, actuator maintenance, purifier maintenance, diesel engine maintenance, boiler maintenance, chemical dosing, inventory check/overhaul, running/repair of lifeboats, carpentry, and standing all necessary watches. While performing these tasks also completed 20 credit hours of sea projects and passed all STCW requirements for projects. Sea projects included Marine Diesel and Steam propulsion plants, auxiliary ships systems, ships refrigeration, naval architecture, electrical systems, maintenance management, and maritime business. Received positive sea project evaluations from all ship’s engineering officers. As well as received the Sealand Meteor’s company safety award for replacing much needed deck grating to maintain vessel’s safety.
