Third Assistant Engineer

Objective


Employment as a Third Assistant Engineer with an opportunity for license upgrade


Experience


Engine Cadet onboard the M/V C-Legacy, 6600HP Diesel Plant from July - September 2010

Was oiler for Relief Chief Engineer and at times was only other person on watch with Relief Chief Engineer. Responsibilities included plant start up and shutdown when needed, assisted with hose hookups, hose watch when transferring or taking on various liquids and then rolling up and putting away hoses when done. Assisted with monthly inspections which included backup battery test, painted steering room, adding oil to the head tanks, generators and engines as needed, monitoring sewage tank and pump down while at sea as needed, engine room scrub downs, daily maintenance and assisted Relief Chief Engineer with any work. Participated in the static kill of the oil spill in the gulf, responsibilities included circulating 19 pound mud in tanks for 1 hour twice a day during my 12 hour watch and assisted Haliburton engineer with daily test of the mud in tanks.



Engine Cadet onboard Tyco C.S. Global Sentinel, 13200HP Diesel-Electric Plant from July - August 2009

Participated in dry dock period to include: water pump overhaul and reinstallation, turbo cooler removal and installation, replaced unit injectors, power pack overhaul, replaced engine mounts, cleaned disk type centrifugal purifiers, replaced and/or cleaned fuel filters, performed turbo wash, replaced copper and aluminum anodes, assisted in bunkering, replaced air filters on turbo and added Freon in refrigeration system. Assisted in plant start up and at sea watchstanding/maintenance duties.



Additional experience is my time as a freshman, sophomore and senior onboard the Massachusetts Maritime Academy training ship. As a senior was an electrical rate, my duties were from changing out bad lights onboard the ship to changing out bad ballast to bigger job with the licensed electrician like troubleshoot all the laundry room machines which had a grounded issue, finding a gound in the engine room, running power to and setting up refrigerated cargo container box on deck
