The Chief Engineer is responsible to the Vessel Master for the management of the Technical Department which includes; responsibility for the technical status of the ship, its machinery and propulsion systems, all technical equipment permanently installed on board and all marine technical equipment temporarily installed on board.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
?Safe and efficient running of the Technical Department, including permanently installed auxiliary equipment on Deck (Power Pack, Winches, Hydraulic,,as applicable , Especial on Work Boats, technical maintenance of the ship’s cranes and other assets, of ship’s critical asset wire ropes, etc ). ? To keep the ship, machinery and specialist equipment permanently installed on board in a technically sound condition ready for operations Maintenance of machinery and permanently installed specialist equipment. ?Maintenance of stores, spares and equipment necessary
?Fuel and lubricants (ordering/purchasing as approved by the Master ).And Manage the Bunkers Conditions, bunkers receive and Consumptions To Manage Fuel’s , Lubricants , Cooling & Boiler Water Treatment and
Maintain the record , send to lab. Test if necessary ?Follow up of the planned maintenance system, Ensuring that the maintenance schedule is kept up to date ?Act as Leader of fire-fighting within their department. ?Act as Leader of Safety officer’s within their department.
?Shipboard training/familiarisation and assessment of officers and other crew members within their department.

As Second Engineer On Board
The Second Engineer is responsible to the Chief Engineer for operations and maintenance of the engine rooms and propulsion equipment on board and may act as the Chief Engineer’s deputy.
Key Responsibilities:
?Act as Engineering Officer of the Watch (Duty Engineer)
?Assist Chief Engineer in the running of the Technical Department
?Operation and maintenance of the ship’s technical equipment according to established operational and planned maintenance procedures
?Training and familiarisation of Mechanics, Fitters and Motormen.
?Assist Chief Engineer in providing support to the Master in conducting “Shipboard Management Review” in accordance with the ISM Code.

? Responsible for implementing and maintaining a safe, cost efficient and environmentally sound operation standard in compliance with Megaport Ship Management Procedures for a given number of vessels
? Manage the daily operation of the number of vessels assigned to him in accordance with Megaport Ship Management Procedures & communicate Masters and Chief Engineers on important matters
? Evaluate and monitor the required reporting from the vessels, act as required and inform other office sections and external bodies as is relevant.
? Follow up class and statutory certification status, condition of class and arrange for the necessary surveys and inspections
? Coordinate with the assigned vessels and prepare the dry docking specification, submit the specification to yards for quotations and evaluate the received quotations
? Maintain stringent cost control of operating budget including financial reporting
Monitor the vessels performance trend and take necessary remedial actions
Regular inspections of the vessels to ensure compliance
? Review monthly cost control and financial reports. Prepare input for the annual budgets for the vessels
? Follow up purchasing, monitor the orders from the vessel and approve invoices for payment.
? Liaise with the Insurance Manager in claims handling
? Follow up the onboard maintenance system (AMOS), monitor the deficiencies and non-conformities from vetting inspections, port state control, audits and flag state inspections and close liaison with Marine department for closure of NCR’s.
I am 24 years sailing experience in various types of ships, 18 years as head of the engine room & 4 years experience as a Technical supervisor, and 1 year as Technical Manager.
Excellent communication skills, also with peoples other nationalities.

English language: Fluent (understanding, writing and speaking).
Very good in Microsoft computer literate, able to use MS Office packages such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Power point and internet.
