Technical Superintendent, Chief Engineer

Objective


As a Professional Marine Engineer my desire always has been to keep pace with the technological change that is being taken place in my professional field. And presently I want to excel in my profession by integrating my technological know how with the management skill. My ultimate object is to mobilize my potential to the fullest extent in a best possible way with help of my technical skill & acquired management knowledge. And I believe thereby I will be able to contribute to the organization & society that I am involved with.


Experience


Worked as chief engineer with AET Ship management, Tokyo Marine, Red Sea marine Services For 12 years. Worked as Technical Superintendent with AET Ship Management managing 05 their vessels VLCC,Afro-Max, Product Tanker and chemical carriers for 0ne year.



? While working with AET as technical superintendent gone through various training in management and technical operations.

? While working as superintendent experienced on vessel’s survey, dry-docking, budgeting, operational matters, various repairs, vetting preparations etc. Following are few for reference:

• Monitoring and enforcing Maintenance & Preventive Plan onboard vessel according to company policy and Maker’s recommendation. To provide technical assistance and advice, delivery latest information from Ship Class Society and Maker’s, to vessel for assisting them for preventing or eliminating premature breakdown of machineries onboard and upkeep machineries performance.

• Responsible for preparing the dry-docking specification as per directed by the company and within approved budget. Monitor the repair progress and update the daily and weekly work progress to management. Identify the gap or problem and suggest for improvement in term of delivery time and budget. Responsible on loading activities on the quotations received from shipyard and submitted a necessary paper to the top management for information and approval.

• Ensure that the vessel are maintained in seaworthy condition and complying with Ship Class Society, Port Administration, Oil Major requirements, MSO and others regulatory bodies applicable to the trade. Monitoring and enforcing company policies to all fleets.

• Sanction vessels requirement for spare, store and shore assistance accordingly. Monitor consumption of spares, store and ensure vessel receive them in time and sufficiently. Verify job completion reports from the vessels. Negotiate with shipyard, repairers, and vendors pertaining to cost, scope of repairs and time frame before approval.

• Conducting ship inspection regularly in port or following the vessel enroute and identify areas for improvement. Ship inspections are particularly necessary as to ascertain job specification for dry-docking or major repairs.

• To assist in providing input for presenting a company quarterly performance review in conjunction with fleet performance.

• To prepare, monitor and controlling fleet operation’s budget. To assist Fleet Operation Manager to achieve departmental’s budget and profit targets in line with the Company overall objective.

• Attend to vessel’s damage repairs at any safe location and managing the present situation. Pursue claim matters with underwriter surveyor and insurance if necessary. Liaise with Insurance Party in furtherance of the above claims if required.

• Monitor ship staff performance to meet standard requirements and appraising and recommended a necessary training as required. Supporting HR (Sea) Department in interviewing and selecting a new candidate to fill up the necessary position onboard vessels. To assist in providing on the job training in technical aspect to subordinate staffs.

• Participate in the implementation and maintenance of the ISM Code and ISO.

Provide technical input and information to business lines where necessary. To carry out pre-charter and pre-purchase inspection on behalf of the company and any other party required via company instruction. Submit the assessment report to the responsible team after the inspection

? Class-1 certificate of competency from UK with dangerous cargo endorsement both in chemical and oil tankers.

? Having long experience in carrying all types of chemicals (loading, discharging) in almost all over the world

? Worked with Dilmun shipping company, Red sea marine services, Unix Lines pvt ltd (Tokyo Marine) in their chemical and product carriers.

? Experienced in working product, Afro-max and VLCC as chief engineer in U.S waters.

? Specialty in chemical carriers in preparing tanks by tank cleaning, inerting etc, overhauling of submergible pumps and its accessories, Maintenance of nitrogen plant and bottles.



Shore-Job Experience:



? Worked in AET Ship management (M) sdn bhd as Technical Superintendent from March 2008 to Feb 2009.

? During Vacation engaged with Prantik Marine Services Ltd (PMSL), Chittagong as repair Superintendent while carried out major repair jobs both in marine industry and Shore industry.

? A part time lecturer at MIST (Maritime Institute of Science and Technology), while lecturing on various subject of Marine Engineering, Safety, Petroleum and chemical tanker Safety etc.

? Attended a course of internal auditor for ISM & ISO under Lloyds Register of Shipping, UK.

? Attended course for Superintendent course under LRS.

? Attended course for AET Leadership Programme: Effective Leadership and Management.

? Attended course ADVANCED BOILER EFFICIENCY FOR ENERGY REDUCTION



Sailing Experience:



I was a passed out cadet of Bangladesh Marine Academy, pursued sea career as merchant marine engineer officer in the year 1989. Eventually sailed on board merchant vessels of many shipping companies of the world in various capacities from 1999 to till date. I had served as chief engineer in chemical carriers, product, Afro-max, VLCC’s. My sailing experience as chief engineer in brief as follows:
