Submarine Pilot / Operations Manager/ Maintenance Manager

Objective


To find work in the marine industry that uses my 5,500+ hours of experience as a Submersible Pilot/ Boat Captain/ Maintenance Technician off the coast of the Hawaiian Islands. To manage a marine charter business in the Hawaiian Islands.To use my skills and experience in another field that is looking for a solid worker that gets the job done right the first time.


Experience


MW Services Inc. – Azeka Shopping Center & Kihei Professional Plaza- 08/06-09/09, Maintenance Manager- Managed and supervised the maintenance and upkeep of Kihei’s largest retail shopping center. Responsibilities included: All the electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, painting, landscaping & irrigation repairs for the entire center and Kihei Professional Plaza. I supervised a crew of 7 in the janitorial, maintenance, and landscaping departments. I was responsible for all procurement of spare parts and supplies, liaison with all outside contractors, handled any and all emergencies as they arose.



Maui Electric Company - 1/03- 1/21/06, Boiler Operator – Worked at the Kahului Power Plant as a Boiler Operator. Maintained and operated 4 large oil fired boilers that produced high pressure steam used in the generation of electricity. I maintained, operated, troubleshot, did light repairs, and continuously logged in the readings for all the support equipment for the entire Power Plant.



Maui Nui Explorer/ Pride Charters Inc.- 5/01 – 10/31/01- Maintenance/ Operations Manager- Managed a multiple Charter Boat operation with daily snorkel excursions to the Island of Lanai. Responsibilities included: Supervising the day-to-day operations, reservations and telephone sales, crew hiring and scheduling, preventative maintenance scheduling, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment, project manager for all dry dock haul outs, liaison for all outside contractors, sourcing and procurement of all supplies, tools, spare parts, and consumables, Coordinated the sales and marketing program with the sales staff and the management team, and established new contacts with the activity desks and hotels throughout the island.



Seabird Cruises Inc. - dba. Navatek II - 9/00 – 5/01- Port Engineer/ Acting Operations Manager – I supervised and lead the maintenance and operations departments for a multiple Charter Boat operation that conducted daily snorkel excursions to Lanai, sunset dinner cruises, and whale watching in season. My responsibilities included: Supervising and leading the staff of over 30 employees. I was responsible for the day-to-day operations. I oversaw the hiring, scheduling, and training of the crew. I was in charge of product development and improving customer service. I was the lead troubleshooter and point person for the maintenance and operations department and handled any problems, concerns, or complaints that arose. I was responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and safety of all the vessels, equipment and vehicles in the company. I was the project manager for all scheduled and unscheduled dry dock haul outs. I lead a maintenance staff of six engineers. We worked on a variety of different systems that included: Air Conditioning systems, Ballast systems, Blower systems, Cooling systems, Electrical systems 240VAC, 120VAC, 24VDC, 12VDC, Electronic Communications and Navigation Systems, Exhaust systems, Fuel Delivery and Filtration systems, Hydraulic systems, Marine Diesel Electric Generators, Plumbing systems for Air, Fuel, Waste, Raw Water, and Potable Water systems, Pneumatic systems, Propulsion and Steering systems. I established preventative maintenance programs, and equipment maintenance history recording system. I was the liaison for all outside contractors. I handled all the purchasing of supplies, spare parts, tools, etc. I coordinated operations and maintenance with the General Manager and the President of the company.



Pacific Gold Photos Hawaii Inc. – 2/95 - 8/00 – President/ Photographer – Owned and operated a Souvenir Photo business in Lahaina, Maui with yearly sales that exceeded $1.4 million dollars. Was responsible for the banking, payroll, employee benefits, taxes, insurance, sales and marketing, and day- to- day operations of the business. Took souvenir photos of the guests as they visited different activities and developed them using both conventional chemistry photography and digital computer processing.



Atlantis Submarines Hawaii L.P. – 3/91 – 11/98 – Submarine Pilot/ Boat Captain/ Maintenance Technician/ Diver/ Japanese Interpreter- Logged over 5,500 hours as a submersible pilot offshore for an underwater Submarine tour company. Responsibilities included: Driving the submarine on the underwater tours, supervised, scheduled, and coordinated diving operations between the submarine, shuttle boat, and ticket office. I captained the shuttle vessel that delivered passengers to the dive site. I supervised and trained the crew in the pilot and maintenance training program. I served as a maintenance technician responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the various systems on board the submarine, tender vessel, shuttle boat, and tow vessel. These systems included: Air Conditioning system, LP & HP Air systems, Air & Water Ballast system, CO2 Scrubber system, Emergency systems, Electrical systems 240VDC, 120VAC, 24VDC, 12VDC, and Marine Diesel Electric Generators, U/W and Surface Communications and Navigation systems, Exhaust systems, Fuel Delivery and Filtration systems, Hydraulic systems, Plumbing systems for Air, Fuel, Oxygen, Waste, Raw Water, and Potable Water systems, Propulsion and Steering systems. I conducted underwater maintenance on all the vessels as necessary. I wrote, translated, and conducted narrations on the marine ecosystem for English and Japanese speaking guests. I was responsible for establishing new contacts and maintaining customer relations with the Japanese agents, drivers, guides, and guests.



King Kamehameha Divers – 1/91 - 6/91 - Retail Sales/ Dive Master – I worked in the retail sales portion of the dive business. My responsibilities included selling equipment, advanced training, and dive charters to the customers. Set up the logistics for the charters and then lead certified divers on their dive excursions.



Self Employed – 4/87 – 12/90 - Private English Instructor/ Sales Representative - For three and a half years I lived on my own as a private English Instructor in Japan. I taught English at both public and private universities, private corporations, English schools, community centers and everywhere else. My students were of many different ages and a wide variety of different backgrounds. I also worked as a sales representative for Dynasty West International, a trading company that did business in Japan. I sold American products to businesses located throughout the Tokyo region.



United States Marine Corps - 11/85 - 4/87 - Communications/ Electronics Maintenance Chief - I was responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all the fixed, tactical, and commercial communications equipment for USMC Base Camp Fuji Japan. This included a secure communications center, telephone exchange, military radio station, tactical field equipment, Motorola commercial radio equipment and diagnostic test equipment. I was responsible for all the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the equipment, spare parts ordering and inventory control, maintaining accurate maintenance records, maintaining a maintenance library, and acted as a liaison for the communications section to other military installations located throughout Japan.
