2/2012-6/2012 Bay Shipbuilding Company, Sturgeon Bay, WI - New Construction Buyer – Contract Position
Contract position to work material & subcontract packages for New Construction. This is Bay’s first contract for building new vessels. I was brought in because they were in need of someone with enough experience & knowledge in New Construction that they could bring in without a learning curve. I had also worked on two Tidewater multi-vessel contracts in the past. I worked the larger, high dollar purchases that are time & technically intensive i.e. electrical cable, lighting, vertical & incline ladders, gangways, deck timber, enclosures, deck fittings & equipment, cargo securing system, etc. After a few weeks, I was also asked to help out on material & subs for the largest of the repair jobs they had. I worked with the Project Manager & came in under budget on all purchases I made. The contract job was for 12 weeks & I stayed 14 weeks. The Yard Manager, the Purchasing Manager, the Project Manager, Engineers & the Tidewater rep have all offered to be references and are listed below.
1996-2010 Bender Shipbuilding & Repair Co., Inc., Mobile, AL - Senior Buyer & Special Projects Coordinator
Over fourteen years of experience in all commodities referencing offshore & inland needs, shipbuilding/repair, facilities, safety, office equipment/supplies & subcontractors to include major equipment, labor, hose/gaskets, freight, joiner, steel, electrical, company vehicles, fasteners, chemicals, spares, paint, grounds/facility maintenance & material handling. Heavy experience in pipe, valves, fittings, rigging, welding, construction materials, hose/gaskets/fittings, plumbing, enclosures, rentals, MRO/stock & tooling. Strong negotiation & contract skills.
