Solar turbines maintenance engineer

Objective

-working as a solar turbines field maintenance engineer.

-Troubleshooting the problems.

-Engine change out.

-Power turbine change out.

-4000 HRS & 8000 HRS services.

Experience

Started working for AFPC in 1994 and I am still working for this company.

As I joined AFPC, worked as a mechanical tech in the central power plant then I finished the training plan after that I had been transferred to the solar turbines section.

I have a good experience on solar turbines, (Cetuars50, H&45, Saturn1500, Mars100 and Taurus 60 in ) both generator and compressor set.

I have also a good experience on Frame-6 turbines GE dual fuel with 40 MW nominal power.

v My brief experience on Solar turbines is the following:

-Mechanical side.

Changing out the engine and the power turbine, carrying out the commissioning and the static checks. Troubleshoot the problems with all auxiliaries, pumps (AC, DC &Mechanical), air start compressors, pneumatic starters, electro hydraulic starters, electrical starters (VFD), IGV, bleed valve, gas fuel control valves, diesel control valves, servo actuators, all enclosure equipment.

Electrical side:

Synchronizing, put the unit on load, troubleshoot the problems with the generator, generator over voltage, generator under voltage, changing the rotating diodes, check the relays, check and calibrate the governor.

Instrument side:

Check and repair, pressure gauges, pressure switches, pressure transmitters, level switches, RTDs, thermocouples, thermal switches, gas sensors, fire system, UV detectors, all kind of solenoids, electro hydraulic actuators, vibration proximities, and calibrate the speed magnetic pick up.

Control system:

Using laptop having A-Bradley programs to follow the sequence.

-Loading the programs in the PLC5/12,15,20,25,40&40C

Modifying the program, change the setting, change the K values, check, and change all modules, I/O, discrete, analog.

Using the ladder logic in turbine control system to simulate signals, that move the IGV, fuel actuators, troubleshooting problems with Bentley Nevada system, carry out configuration for the new PLC.

*Carrying out 4000 Hrs & 8000Hrs service on the 27 solar turbines units in AFPC fields, using the turbine test kit to carry out the static checks, responsible for changing the engine and the power turbine, carry out commissioning for the new engine, off-line water wash.

v On GE side Troubleshooting the problems with the turbine, hot path inspection, water wash and major overhaul, familiar with Speedtronics system.

Education

-A degree of mechanical engineering.
