Shipfitter/Welder

Objective

My main objective is to find work with a company that is growing and needing a motivated, hard working employee. I want to find a career not just a job.

Experience

• Dks Inc. – Carpenter/laborer - Constructed forms for major commercial and industrial warehouse foundations. Also formed retaining walls and erected tilt- up walls. Performed patch work to repair the concrete and formed sidewalks. (04/2007 to 06/2008)

• Steel Works LLC. – Welder/laborer/fabricator - Fabricated and erected steel I-beams and columns for a commercial real-estate building. Fabricated and installed handrails and cosmetic steel for companies like Pemco Insurance and Electro impact. (06/2008 to 10/2008)

• Everett Shipyard – Helper - Ground and prepped small Navy ship for paint. Helped with weld repairs on keel of a Naval destroyer. Sanded, ground and paint prepped Seattle ferry parts for Todd’s Shipyard. General ferry repair and yard maintenance. (09/2009 to 11/2009)

• Todd’s Shipyard – Ship fitter - Removed paint and insulation from Naval Aircraft Carrier John C. Stennis for steel repair and replacement. Removed rusted steel and fabricated inserts for bulkheads and Jet Blast Door #1 (HY-100). Fabricated and installed brackets for rudder indicator, port and starboard. Helped remove and install ventilation for welders, fitters, pipe fitters, etc. Also involved in fitting together a new state ferry the Kennewick (lined up and tacked bulkheads, layout for bulkheads and floor girders). Layout, cut out, and replacement of inserts throughout ship. Fit together majority of chine on both port and starboard. Inserted gussets, stiffeners, and columns for EOS flat and car deck. (06/2010 to 02/2011)

• Delphinus Engineering – Ship fitter - Prepped and ground ten HY-100 access cutouts from 4th deck to flight deck. Removed rudder shaft foundations and prepped for new install. Removed four pipe hangers, prepped for new install and fit to new location. Removed safety net clips on two trunks from 2nd deck to 7th deck and prepped for new install. Fit new safety net clips for welder and did layout for new install on one trunk. Ground and fit inserts for rudder shaft in dry dock. Wrapped Jp-5 tubes with fire cloth for hotwork and helped welders set up machines and run gas lines. (04/2011 to 08/2011)

• Delta Marine – Welder/fabricator/ship fitter – Fit together 3 decks for a 211 Ft Yacht, from sub arcing the plates to fitting all the girders, stiffeners and brackets by myself. Set elevation for guest lounge above the main deck on the 211 Ft Yacht. Plasma cut main deck for the aft hatch door, then fit door into main deck. Fabricated, fit and welded out 2 watertight hinge boxed for the aft hatch door. Fit and welded out half of the engine rooms fire boundary bulkheads. Laid out, cut and inserted control panel for side crew door in a semi-finished room. Fabricated, fit and welded out 2 plug weld doubler plates on the inside of the aft swim step on the 211 Ft Yacht (both required mirror welding). Fabricated and fit all aft bull works for loading door.

• Delta Marine - Anchor system for 211 Ft Yacht – Plasma cut and prepped hull of the 211 for anchor pockets to rest in. Plasma cut and prepped all frames, longs, and bulkheads needed for anchor pockets to fit. Removed all paint and debris from inside of anchor chain locker, then fit and welded out anchor pockets into place. I then fabricated, fit, and welded out (309L and 316L stainless dual shield wire) all frames, longs, and bulkheads back to where the anchor pocket now sits. Fit and welded out lower chain guard plate ( 5’X10’X5/16” polished stainless steel) on both anchor pockets with 309L stainless dual shield wire. Fit and welded out bow stem (12’X18”X5/16” polished stainless steel) to hull first with 309L Tig then with 309L stainless dual shield wire. Bent to shape and tacked up 6 polished stainless steel half rounds to lower chain guard plates. Stainless TIG welding for 6+ weeks on both anchor pocket chain guard plates with both 316L and 309L filler rod. (09/21/11 to present
