Ship Repair Superintendent

Position worked as a Ship Repair Superintendent:- 

  • Managing, planning and organizing repair works of ships
  • Managing planning, scheduling, critical path, document preparation  Raising invoices
  • Ensuring timely completion of assignments’ while maintaining standards and cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinating with the vendors, suppliers, sub-contractors and the owner’s representative during the course of the repair.
  • Ensuring all operations carried out as per Quality and safety standards and meets the customers’ expectations.
  • Recruitment, training and performance appraisal of employees
  • Managing stock of materials,equipments,tools and consumables
  • Coordinating with third party inspectors
  • Responsible for carrying out all QA/QC activities
  • Maintaining detailed report of all works being carried out

Nature of repairing jobs handling : Repair of  Oil tankers, Offshore Supply vessels ships, Tug Boats, Dredgers, Jack up Rigs, Jack up  barges, Aluminium speed boats, Hopper barges, Dumb barges, Multicat etc.

Titles of repairing activities handled for Ship Repairing:-

  • Checking vessel draft & Ballast condition before entrance in dry-dock for docking & undocking time.
  • Customs clearance & vessel’s attending shipping agent’s formality.
  • Shore power & Gangway, fire line connection on board for safety.
  • Safety & Gas certification of confined spaces under repair.
  • Erection of staging inside tanks for steel repair & blasting/painting.
  • Removal of bottom plugs of WBT at dry dock.
  • Arranging HP water jet & scraping of Outside hull ( Topside, Vertical & Underwater area ), Grit blast( As per area agreement & standard ) & Paint( As per paint specification for owner approved paint supplier )
  • Lowering down of Anchor chain, ranging, HP wash, Blasting, calibration, marking, painting as per requirement.
  • Job identification with superintendent along with yard concerned department people for Deck machineries ( Anchor windlass, Life boat & Davit for load test, mooring winches, capstans, provision crane, Cargo cranes on deck, Hatch covers & pontoons etc.)
  • Hull steel repair, sea grids, anodes, Propellers( Polishing & normal edge worn out area build up ), Tail shaft ( Removal for survey or normal wear down clearances, Rope guards ), Rudders ( Upper pintle & lower pintle clearances )
  • Carpentry work in Mess room, cabins, toilets etc. including flooring, panels etc.
  • U.T. gauging for hull plate, Steel repair sketches location on shell expansion drawing, record of all clearances & reading for handing over to superintendent & class surveyor.
  • Pipe repair for Main sea chest pipelines, Bilge and ballast lines, fire lines, Fuel oil lines, Bunker lines, cargo fuel oil lines etc.…, HP lines and manifolds in Rigs such as cement line and Mud line etc.…,

Other jobs as a team lead:-

  • Preparing  of Docking plan and Docking blocks  for vessels such as OSV,Oil tanker, Dredgers, Multicat and barges
  • As a team lead did Docking and undocking operation for vessels and dredgers in floating dry dock
  • Prepare Lifting plan for Structures like Spuds and Spud carrier in Dredgers, Telescopic Gangway in Platform supply vessels and other structures etc…,
