Completed Projects# 1
Project Title: Hydrographic Datafill
Client: UKHO, UK.
Role: Project Manager
Duration: From January. 2009 to December 2017
Description:
This project was envisaged for creating hydrographic database from the source ENCs in HDB system through remote setup in Citrix Environment. Products were generated from source database compliant to the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) specifications of paper chart production. The process was carried out in two stages.
Stage 1:
Initial Data Population: Population of the HDB with data contained with an ENC cell and it’s Verification. In this stage, various tasks were performed with source and database like advance edits on data, vertical consistency (generalization of the data i.e. Chart Compilation and Cartography adjustments from large scales to small scales and selection of soundings and contour interpolation of the data), Horizontal consistency( edge matching with deferent scales and published limits are parallel to other and same scales as per specification) and assign wreck and light numbers as per supplied specifications etc according to UKHO procedures prior to paper chart population.
Maintenance of the source data was also done using the updates received from the latest survey information and fully updated large scale data for which was required to update their small scale data for generalization.
Stage 2:
ENC Production: After completion of the above data adjustments, created ENC master on ENC Product application as per prescribed standards of IHO S-57 ENC then ranthird party validations like Dkart and Analysers.
Stage 3:
Creatation of Paper Chart Master: Created paper chart master held within the CARISHPD/PCE production environment and was an almost exact replica of the current edition of the UKHO paper chart. It will vary in certain defined details due to the differing production methods used, and the availability of matching hydrographic data in the database. Once the database is created and cleaned as per Initial database population, the Paper chart Master was populated. Since this project was in evolving stage due to adoption of new technology, additional tasks were added to the process to meet the customer deliverables during project execution.
Further, maintenance of charts was done by applying new correction to charts like, NTM update block corrections and new survey information.
Responsibilities:
- Data Pre-Process and planning/scheduling deliverables
- Allocating tasks to each individuals of team
- Monitoring day to day tasks
- Day to day communication with client to exchange status and queries
- Involve in the verification & validation prior to shipment.
- Giving training to new users and improving the quality data.
Solution Environment: CarisHPD 3.1.0, CARIS S-57 Composer 2.3, Dkart Inspector, Analyser, Global mapper
