In many countries a Doctorate in Chiropractic (DC) carries with it all the rights, privileges, and scope of practice as a Doctorate of Medicine ( MD ). In fact some countries such as Costa Rica /Mexico / other Latin countries / and many south east Asian countries an MD not trained in that country cannot practice at all. Where as a foreign-trained DC has the same scope of practice as a MD trained in the host country would have.

Experience 22 years gathering data ,neurologically, orthopedically , interrupting clinical lab findings, radiological interruption, understanding actives of daily living and what level of injury will allow what level of activities. Writing reports / testifying as to the findings of afore mentioned data. Basic and advanced security protocols for defensive configurations in and around the maritime industry.

Understanding the different types of piracy, and how to identify them as such, allowing for better decisions to be made on how to defend against attacks with the least amount of loss of life or property.

How to use equipment normally found on the vessel for defense against attack.

Proper training of crew on defensive tactics, and running drills when time allows. Making sure that the crew understands that their, lives as well as your own depends on a well thought out, practiced, and prepared defense force. Taking the advice of the crew members in making a defensive plan as the crew knows the ship better than any security team will.

Making plans for retreat including where each member will retreat to and what they will use for defense, all the while supporting security team, keeping a fire watch, and working as many systems as possible.

Searching the vessel for IED, Stowaways, and Contraband, then follow SOP on dealing with such.

Knowing what weapons carried on board, and when to use each. Always keeping in mind that the use of non-lethal force should always be tried before escalating to lethal force.

Understanding the ISPS, IMO, and State Flag Considerations.

Understand the SSP, and make sure that the SSO, Master, Company SO, and STL know the ROE and SOP making sure all are in agreement. Keeping in mind that no SOP can cover all contingencies’, and have guidelines to change such if needed.

Know SOP’s for all port operations.

Make ABSOLUTELY clear that the Master, SSO, STL, and security team members know the SOP’s, and when to go from MARSEC1 through MARSEC3.

Train crew on management of large groups of people in panic situations, including shipboard passengers, and civil unrest while in port.
