Redesigned and maintained upkeep, inventory and certification records of seven submarines, three Torpedo Retrievers, one Dry Dock and hundreds of weight test fixtures used for weapons handling.

Trained co-workers in all aspects of safety, personnel protective equipment and weight test procedures improving the shops overall knowledge, abilities and qualifications.



Weight Test Supervisor -

Safely executed and completed over 600 tests of weapons handling equipment on and off the submarines and various vessels



Rigger -

Safely performed over 300 critical lifts of assorted pumps, motors and valves onboard seven submarines, three Torpedo Retrievers and a dry dock saving the Navy over $250,000.

Divisional Safety Petty Officer-

Wire Rope –

Accomplished at opening wire rope to inspect the inside, pre-inspection

for rope installation, pinpointing conditions that warrant rejection of damaged/unsafe wire rope and the proper storage of wire rope and misc. rope (line).



Practiced in the uses of wire rope with both fiber and wire rope cores, finding the safe working load of wire ropes, the proper removal of wire rope from shipping reel or coil and the proper safe procedures for seizing wire rope.



Familiar with requirements and procedures for safe static and dynamic load limit tests and documentation for proof tests.



Educated in the proper lubrication, application and safety precautions for

pouring sockets and fabricating soft eyes by swaging.



Rigging Hardware –

(Principles of Rigging) Use shipping papers,

design plans, and catalog data to determine the weight of a load, center of gravity and proper rigging gear to accomplish job safely.



Familiarization of various types of chain hoists and safe hoisting operation procedures.

Determining the rated capacity of a chain hoist, effective safe use of chain hoists and hoist maintenance.



Knowledgeable of different types of blocks and tackles and their safe uses.

Calculate the proper size line for tackle to lift a given weight and calculate the weight a given tackle will lift safely.



Learned and practiced in the safe use of lashing wire, shackles, lifting pads, beam clamps, eyebolts, chafing gear and hooks.



Knowledgeable of various types of slings and their safe uses, advantages of nylon web slings and proper use.



Experienced with the use of various types of fiber rope and determining safe working load, proper storage and inspection procedures.



Weight Test Supervisor/Operator-

Proficient at performing/supervising weight tests on various vessels using the Principles of Rigging and weapons handling gear and procedures.



Experienced at conducting/supervising in-house tests of weapons handling tackle, search and rescue litters, man baskets, dry-dock crane lifting slings, submarine mooring cleats, j-bar cargo handling davits, submarine topside safety tracks, mast/antenna clamps, and periscope securing bars.



Corrosion Control-

Experienced at rehabing ships surfaces, fittings and gear in accordance with USN and DOD specifications.



Proficient at painting by roller or sprayer exterior and interior spaces.



Over eight years experience removing deck surfaces(non skid), preparing deck in accordance with USN/DOD standards and replacing with new Non-Skid
