Seaman/ Deckhand

Objective


I would like to obtain a position as a seaman or a deck hand. I would like to go out at sea for atleast 3 months at a time and I would like to be apart of a crew again.


Experience


Deckhand, March-June 2007

Worked as a line handler, cashier, entertained guest, basic deck and boat maintenance, and secured the safety of the guest both in and out of water.



Hazmat Tech –2, December 2006-March 2007

United States Navy

Worked with hazardous materials. Used Microsoft Excel to process both received and distributed hazardous materials. Assisted with crane and elevator operations. Conducted random HAZMAT checks throughout the ship. Did weekly inventory of HAZMAT aboard the ship.



Seaman, June-December 2006

United States Navy

Performed basic shipboard maintenance including: painting, chipping, sweeping, and swabbing of decks. Assisted with mooring of ships and submarines along side vessel. Maintained my divisional quarters and the quarters assigned to me be my Division Officer. Anchorage, line handling and watch standing were also a part of my main duties.

How to use and make various knots. Moor and unmoor various vessels. Patriotic procedures. The use of the ship flags (Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Kilo, Lima etc.) Learned shipboard procedures and watch standing techniques.

Trained to use firefighting and flooding equipment. Learned how to contain fire and flooding.
