Safety & Loss Administrator

Objective

I would like to work in the shipping industry outside of the UK.

Experience

The Standard Club, London, United Kingdom

February 2014 – Present

Safety & Loss Administrator

Managing the annual routine marine survey programme which involves arranging condition surveys on a worldwide basis for 350-400 ships per year

Sourcing and vetting marine surveyors who are able to carry out marine surveys on behalf of the Standard Club and who are also able to meet the strict criteria required

Monitoring the progress of surveys and following up on outstanding repairs, exclusions and warranties

Alerting the Director of Loss Prevention of any serious defects arising from the survey

Producing Safety & Loss reports for senior management, underwriters and claims executives

Managing the accounting of the survey programme which includes agreeing/negotiating survey fees, processing invoices via an internal accounting system and ensuring that fees are settled in the required time frame

As part of a company drive to maintain an A- credit rating, I was given the responsibility of modernising the Safety & Loss department which included streamlining the reporting of survey results, working closely with software developers on the development of a new Safety & Loss IT system, overhauling our reporting process with a view to providing more transparency to the departments we work closely with and updating our survey forms so that they correlate closely with insurance claims and therefore reduce the likelihood of a claim

Arranging Safety & Loss committee meetings with senior managers of the Standard Club and our most prominent members. This included arranging international travel, meetings rooms, excursions and events in Europe

Taking and producing minutes of the above Safety & Loss committee meetings
