Objective
i want to continue being a mate but my dream since i was little is to be a pilot-captain i love working on vessals and i love everything about the river i dont want to do anything else,all my relatives have worked on the river and my grandpa is Dan Quintin he had a boat named after him he was a captain until he passed away
Experience
marquette transportation,bluegrass marine,arkansas river service, general marine,kurt wagner fleet service,mile 164,,I was first mate with marquette from 2000 to 2004 i was a deckhand at general marine,and i was a deckhand at wagner fleet service,i also was oiler with marquette for three years off and on my responsibilities was building tow in a safe and timely manner teaching green deckhands,and keeping up the boat,cleaning and painting and taking care of the engines,and sometimes steering the boat,and repairing barges and pumping them out,barge reports,riggin enventory,and supply enventory,making locks and dams,splicing lines,make bumpers,workin on winches and sometimes had to splice wires when we busted up tow,know one has ever been injured on my watch,i have learned from the best mates on the river and i want to be the best, i am a very honest person,and i am easy going and down to earth as long as the job is done and everything is in good shape,tow,engines,and the wires are tight,i do not have a college,education and i dropped out of high school in the eleventh grade but i am a very versatile person i do have a vo tech degree for computers and construction,and i can type a minimum of sixty five words a minute and i currently owning my own business but is is hard to compete with other companies in my field,i am a professional carpenter,painter,builder,ceramic tile,but i dont stay busy enough i have two kids to support and my son has asthama and my daughter has brain problems she has to have surgerys,that i can not afford,i admit i have made mistakes when i was young but having kids will make you mature,i love my babies and i want to provide them a good life,and when i was on the boat i had decent money i miss the river,and all the hospitality,i think i would be a good emloyee for acbl i always wanted to work for the largest companys on the river,i am a little behind right now i need two thousands dollars to get my drivers licence back if you gave me a chance i would get my licence after one trip because i know you guys require a licence for rental car purposes,but i have been on several of your vessals before i know you have sattilite cable,and you have cooks,and you have very nice boats,the last acbl boat i was on was the lexington,and i have repaired hundreds of your barges and i know most of your barges have winches on them,i stated workin on the river when i was eighteen and i think that was the smartest thing i have done because it made me the man ia am today it taught me diciplin,and how to work hard for what you want i was running lead man the second trip i had made on the river and it wasnt long after that i was promoted to first mate and oiler,i love everything the river offers,and i would do anything to get back out there for my babies,
Education
capital hill high school completed the eleventh grade
Certification
computers building,cpr,but my cpr has expired,and i have fire safety training`
Skils
first mate work on cattapillar,emd,detroit engines,i have over hauled several when i worked for marquette,fire safety,cpr training,and i am one of the best in building tow and repairing barges,and i dont crack under pressure situations,and i am a good swimmer and i can operate out board boats for crew change we had to do that sometimes at marquette,and i am a very good painter,and carpenter,and man can i clean a boat,welding,tac welding,and i know all the hand signals in emergency situations,and i am very good at making locks i have been known to talk alot but my work speaks for it all,and i dont lie,and i am a very good teacher,i have taught hundreds of deckhand the way of life and work on the river
like i said i dont have a license or a high school education but i am extremely smart and i am a very hark worker i go after what i want and i dont ever give up,i hope i didnt talk to much for you to concider my application,but i have always wanted to work for acbl,all i need is one chance to get my life back on track and a little money to get my license back because all my money is going on my babies and my daughter surgery i didnt have two thousand dollars to get my license back,but i hope who ever reads this has a heart,i can literally get hundered of reconmendation from captains and other mates that i am the man for the job
