Position: Radio Operator
Responsibilities:
Operates and maintains the rig’s communication systems
Assists with general clerical duties
Establishes and coordinates all radio communications.
Received and transmits radio communication messages in accordance with applicable regulations
Performed and coordinates isolation of radio transmissions during radio silence Or the use of explosive devices.
Maintains listening watch on the marine and aeronautical band emergency channels and responds to distress and emergency calls
Informs and takes direction from the PIC on what assistance can be offered.
Maintains the communications equipment and navigational aids; performs tests, minor repairs, and adjustments on radio equipment and lifeboat radios; charges And replaces batteries as needed.
Copies broadcast schedules, such as weather information and news.
Coordinates crew changes, kept the POB, and Crew Roster up to date.
Maintains the radio log, keeping the account for the telephone calls, facsimiles, And telexes transmitted.
Flight Safety Support
Maintains helicopter safety “flight watch” when requested to do so by aircraft
Monitors communication during helicopter and boat operations appropriate frequency to the location and as specified by the helicopter and boat
Advises helicopter traffic of prevailing wind conditions.
Maintains a log of all aircraft and boat activities.
Performs inspections as required; reports all hazards.
Develops and implements Job Safety Analyses and prepares risk assessments As required.
Performs all duties in accordance with the Permit to Work System
