Suitable assignment for a Naval architect with over 35 years experience in a leading shipyard in India having eposure in different types of vessels (Bulkers, Tankers, Platform supply vessels,Anchor Handlers,Ocean going Tugs, loading platforms etc)

• Responsible for the Planning & production control of all projects

• Scheduling, material planning and Monitoring the projects on PERT and forwarding management reports.

• Over-all responsible for the quality control of all activities in the new construction, including liaising with classification societies, owners representatives and other statutory bodies

• Responsible for procurement of all material for the yard , right from tendering to procurement Inspection and warehousing .

CHIEF GENERAL MANAGER (SHIP BUILDING DIVISION) - JAN 2007 – March2009



? Sets high standards as the Head of the Ship Building division to complete projects in time, at optimum cost. For the first time in the history of the yard, “Bonus Payment” was received from the owners,M/s CLIPPER Group, for the early delivery of the fourth Bulk Carrier, of the “TRADER” series.



? The major projects presently undertaken include, a series of 30K Bulk Carriers of “Trader Series” for M/s Clipper group, Platform Supply Vessels for M/s Hellispont, Tidewater, Vroon offshore,AHT’s and the construction of the “ Air Defense Ship” for Indian Navy.



? Coordination of the entire activities of the Ship Building Division with the various cost centers of the yard, Classification Societies, other Statutory Bodies, the Owners and ensures that the projects are planned in a systematic and professional manner maintaining the yard’s quality standards.



? Responsible for the Planning of Ship Building activities, namely Outsourcing of jobs required in connection with the on going projects, Finalising guidance rates for various jobs ,Hull unit fabrication, Grand assembly of units, Hull Erection, Advance outfitting of hull units, Surface Preparation and Painting, on board outfitting, Pipe piece fabrication, commissioning of all systems, mooring trials and Sea trials.



DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER (JAN 2003 – DEC 2006)



? In charge of planning and execution of the outfitting of the following vessels: -



? Landing Platform vessel for Abu Dhabi, the first major export order undertaken by the yard, which had been delivered to the owners ahead of the schedule.



? !700 cum Trailing Suction Dredger for Chennai Port Trust



? A series of nine Fire Fighting Tugs of varying Bollard Pulls for the port of Jeddah completed and handed over within the contracted schedule.



? The Trader Series, Bulk carriers, the entire outfitting including the erection and commissioning of folding hatch covers.



ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER (JUNE-1992 to JAN-2003)



? In charge of fabrication of Hull Blocks in the Shops, including the preparation of materials, sub assembly, assembly of blocks, grand assembly for 1,03,000 DWT double hull crude oil Tanker.



? In charge of quality control activities in the ship building during the construction of Single Hull crude oil Tankers.



? During this period I was also given the responsibility of executing, planning of the entire machinery repairs in the Ship Repair Operations of all the vessels including Naval, OFFSHORE, Product carriers, SBM’s, PSV’s etc.



? Augmentation of off shore un manned drilling platforms by clamp- on process



SENIOR NAVAL ARCHITECT (JUNE – 1987 to JUNE-1992)



? Section in charge of the fabrication of Hull units for single Hull crude oil Tankers

? Coordination with classification society, owners

? Section in charge in the outfit quality control of IQC department during the construction of crude oil tankers.



NAVAL ARCHITECT (JUNE- 1982 to JUNE – 1987)



? As first line officer in the erection, fairing, welding & Dry survey at Hull Erection for the Panamax Bulk Carriers.



? Also worked in the Hull outfitting section during the construction of the bulk carriers and especially played an important role in the erection and commissioning of side rolling hatch covers , which was undertaken by the yard for the first time.

? All other jobs in deck outfitting like Tank Testing, Draft Marks, Plimsol Marking, and Deck Machinery etc.



ASSISTANT NAVAL ARCHITECT (JUNE – 1976 - JUNE1982)



? As first line officer in the erection of HULL units of the first vessel, Panamax Bulk Carrier built in Cochin Ship Yard.

? Preparation of fabrication drawings for Panamax Bulk carrier

? Erection and commissioning of FLAP GATES for dry dock

? B Sc Engg (MECHANICAL) Degree, in FIRST CLASS from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala University



? B Tech (NAVAL ARCHITECTRUE) Degree, in FIRST CLASS from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras



? One year Training in Ship Building at JAPAN under JICA Programme
