The organization is a division of the Indian Register of Shipping, which is an internationally recognised independent ship classification society, founded in India in 1975. IRS provides professionally competent, completely independent and highly efficient third party technical inspection and certification services for all types of marine craft and structures.
Responsibilities:
• Involved in validating the soundness and functionality of piping system drawings for various sea going vessels built in major shipyards.
• Examined the designs & plans of machinery so as to ensure there compliance with the classification rules, statutory regulations and various international resolutions.
• Played key role in production planning and designing of fire fighting ships with stability using different simulated conditions.
• Designed and developed structural drawings and piping system schematics for ships.

Design of a TUG:
Team Size: 3 Members
Duration: 6 months
Technology used: AutoCAD, Hull Modeller and Ansys.
Project Details: A 50-ton Bollard pull Voith tractor tug, designed in the T.S division of Indian Register of Shipping. The ship is designed under the category of full sea going with fire fighting capabilities. The design process dealt with mainly the strength and the stability aspects of ships under various loading conditions.
My Contribution: My contribution (in the faculty of team leader) involved the analysis of the stress generated at various loading conditions and also in finding the adequate stability at those loading conditions, fulfilling all the international rules and regulations.
My contribution also includes detailed production planning at the shipyard, which consists of the following stages:
? Design and development of ships structural drawings and piping system schematics.
? Estimation of material requirement and generation of detailed material specifications.
? Preparation of Bill of materials for procurement of rolled sections, pipes, tubular.
