West Coast Shipyard / Nigel Shipyard (August 2006 – Till Date) Goa



Am currently employed as a Works Manager with the above mentioned company and am handling two shipyards having dry docks of 90 x 20 x 5meter and 70 x 13 x 5 meters.

The company has basically been involved in Barge repairs and manufacture and has of late (since August2006) been building ship blocks under DNV standards.



• My current job profile is

• Coordination of the various suppliers, contractors, surveyors as well as our customers and owners.

• Management of material, schedules, Job Quality as per Norske standards etc.

• Handling surveys for American Bureau of Shipping ,Det Norske Veritas as well as the Indian Registrar of shipping

• To take care of all documentation of the project under the guidelines of the Customers-Bharti Shipyard as well as Det Norske Veritas.

• Have completed the Lead Auditors Course under Krit Quality and Safety services in association with Robere & Associates (Thailand).

• Am currently helping the company to set up the ISO systems for its well being.



Institute of Maritime Studies (October 2002 – July 2006) Goa, India

Training Instructor

Trained Marine Engineers for their 5th Engg Examinations.

I was posted with the students during the ‘Afloat Training’ onboard a Trans shipper for a period of six months besides conducting their workshop training for a year and a half.

I was also responsible for conducting classroom lectures in engineering drawing / Technical English, /Workshop practice etc.

The Institute and its various courses are structured as per the Directorate General of Shipping, India and is ISO9002 Certified.

Quality Control Engineer



Was working on a FPSO (Floating Production Supply & Offloading) project being built for Petrobras Brazil (FPSO - BRAZIL/FALCON/EAGLE/ P-43).

Consisted of the crane turret gantry /overhead structure, Flare Tower's, Helideck, Piping etc.

Piping is inclusive of the Copper Nickel (CuNi), Stainless Steel (SuS), and Carbon Steel (C.S) Pipe Fitup and Welding.

Was also responsible for the renewal and construction inspections of additional Hull members for the FPSO ship.

All the above mentioned projects were under the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) classification society.



The owners are Single Buoy Moorings, Switzerland. (SBM), Haliburton, Kellogg’s-Root and Brown Energy services And Exxon Mobil.

The project is being carried out under the watchful eyes of both the owners as well as the classification society (ABS) adhering to very high regulatory standards.



I am responsible for

• The Quality Control of the Project.

• Consisting of all Fitup and Final inspections carried out.

• Recording of Dimensions and Tolerances etc.

• Physical examination of materials / equipment etc

• Maintaining of all the above records as per international standards.

• Ensuring that the work / workers adhere to the rules and regulations laid down as per the ASME AND AWS Standards.

• Handling of all paper work /documentation pertaining to reports, inspections, etc.

Anderson Marine Pvt. Ltd. (Nov 1996 – April2000) Goa, India

(Senior site Supervisor)



Anderson Marine Pvt. LTD is a shipbuilding yard based in Goa, India. They are specialists in building of Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) high-speed sea craft. Their clientele include the Indian Navy and Coast Guard besides other major ship- yards and ports in India.

The high-speed craft include Interceptor Boats, Attack Craft, Rib’s etc.

. Other craft built at Anderson Marine Include Tank Cleaning Vessel's, Landing Craft, Buoy Laying Craft, Torpedo Barges, Water barges, and passenger ferries for inland as well as sea travel.

A Major part of the construction as well as machinery components, used were of international brands and standards of which I am conversant.



I was responsible for

• The General Supervision in the Mechanical as well as the Steel Fabrication Departments.

• Quality control of work all fitup and final inspections carried out.

• Physical examination of materials / equipment etc

• Installation and commissioning of various Marine Equipment, including engines motors, pumps etc

• Basin and Sea trials of all vessels built by the Anderson Marine shipyard.

I have worked on the following Marine Craft:

• 40 Knots Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Interceptor Boats for the Indian Coast Guard (20m)(1no.)

• FIRST IN INDIA - TANK CLEANING VESSEL (T.C.V) for the Indian Navy. Extensive Trials carried out on The Indian Aircraft Carrier I.N.S.VIRAAT.

• 20m-15Knots Pilot Launch for Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust Mumbai (1nos)



• 12 Knots (FRP) Landing Craft for Vehicles and Personnel(L.C.V.P.)for the Indian Navy(15m)(2no)

• 15 Knots (FRP) Survey Motor Boats (SMB) for the Indian Navy.(12m)(2no)

• 200 Passenger Ferry for Indian Navy.

• 10 Knots – 2000 Tons Ore Carrying Barge for Fidalgo Marine, Goa

• 10 Knots – Passenger and Vehicle Carrying ferries for River Navigation Dept, Goa (8nos)

• 32m-11 Knots Oil Skimmer Cum Buoy Laying Vessel for New Mangalore Port Trust.(Voith Schneider propulsion )

Had Initial Workshop Training for four months duration. Training consisted of Basic Fitting and Welding practices besides Quality Control in the fabrication, fitting and welding departments.

I am a First Class Diploma Holder in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Material Handling.

Project: Had worked on a project of six months duration at an international firm in Goa. Project consisted of “The Analysis of the Distribution Network” of the above mentioned firm.



ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Secured a Distinction in AutoCAD -Rel 11. From Datapro International, Goa, India.

Am conversant with AutoCAD 2000.

Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word & Excel.

Constructing Model Ships and Aircraft, Chess, Reading, Music, Coin Collecting, Photography and Carpentry.

Was an active member of my local dramatic group (both on stage as well as assisting in the different productions)

Organized and compared various Elocution and Quiz competitions on a State level.

I also like travelling and meeting people in the pursuit of Knowledge and work.
