Maritime Safety and Security Team 91110, Boston, MA June 2007-April 2009



Assistant Engineering Petty Officer

• Achieved rank of E-6 in 3.5 years

• Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Engineering Support Division for a Maritime Safety and Security Team, typically 5-15 personnel

• Conducted semi-Annual Performance evaluations of 5 personnel

• Accountable for over 3.5 Million Dollars of equipment and inventory

• Scheduled and documented maintenance and repair for all primary mission critical assets

• Performed as unit coordinator responsible for training and accountability for unit Hazardous Materials Program

• Conducted inspections of other MSST’s machinery readiness as part of an inspection team

• Performed duties as Law Enforcement Officer in the North Capital Region air zone security mission program, which is responsible for Washington, D.C. air zone security

• Conducted numerous types of operations that include; homeland security patrols, drug interdiction, military readiness, pollution control, disaster recovery and search and rescue missions

• Trained and evaluated personnel for conducting Law Enforcement tasks in accordance with Coast Guard procedures

• Utilized team building and leadership skills to function above expectations throughout stressful and difficult operation periods

• Performed engineering responsibilities related to ship maintenance to include areas such as: diesel engines, air conditioning, reverse osmosis units, crane and deck equipment hydraulic systems

• Law Enforcement Petty Officer responsible for conducting training, evaluations and law enforcement operations in the Micronesian/Pacific Area, also maintained records of activities

• Gained experience working and living within international cultures

• Participated in joint law-enforcement missions with several nations in the Micronesian area as well as the Japanese and Chinese Coast Guards

• Installed and serviced Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning(HVAC) equipment for commercial, industrial and residential

• Performed on call 24 hour a day service and highly interacted with customers
