• Firstly hired in 1987 as Shipping Manager to Santos Office, reorganized the Shipping and Port Operations Dept. and took charge of commercial and administrative sectors together with renegotiations with former clients and service providers.

• Promoted in 1989 to the position of General Shipping Manager to the offices in the ports of Santos, Paranagua and Rio Grande. Established personal contacts in Brazil with Charterers, Exporters and Importers and as well as with Ship owners and Shipbrokers abroad with a view to consolidate business and to achieve new clients.

Frequent travels to the ports of Paranagua and Rio Grande to supervise the Company’s Branch Offices.

• Introduced and started NVOCC business in the company in 1997 with positive results afterwards.



Transchem Agencia Marítima Ltda. (1985 to 1987)

(A Louis Dreyfus Negoce S.A., France - Parent Company)

• Hired as Manager, received the task to start the preparation of legal documents to the opening and installation of the office in the port of Santos and undertook full responsibility to install the company’s office in the Port of Salvador.

• The managerial position required full time attention to all departments of the Company and special attention to the Operations Dept. and Accounting Dept.

• Frequent business travels to Rio de Janeiro and Salvador was a must.

• Acted as Director of former APEES – Professional Association of Stevedoring Entities in the Port of Santos.



Delta Line, Inc., New Orleans, LA (1981 to 1986)

Latin America Head Office in Santos, Brazil



• Coordination and planning of port operations of three LASH vessels in service from / to East Coast USA Gulf / East Coast South America and of four general cargo vessels in the traffic from / to West Coast USA / East Coast South America.

• Fully responsible for the LASH vessels’ port operations while working cargo in the port of Santos basis 24/24 hours attending on board during every port call.

• Weekly Inventory of barges in port.

• Control of operational costs and optimization of savings.

• Cargo claims and negotiations with cargo Insurance Companies.

• Promoted to Operations Sub-Manager to the East Coast South America Service, reporting to the Operations Manager and to the CEO directly.

• General supervision of the Containers Dept., which was subordinated to the Operations Dept.



The position required contact almost on daily basis with all the Delta Line Offices and sub-agents in southern cone for coordination of the operations at every Latin America southern ports serviced by Delta Line, Inc.

In charge of the Stevedoring Equipment and Gear Dept., supervising and controlling its’ activities which also included analysis of budgets and purchase of material.

Left the company in 1986 on account of its’ business termination.



Agencia Maritima Lauritz Lachmann Ltda. (1979 to 1981)

• Started as Port Operations Assistant and raised to the position of Port Operations Supervisor.

• Coordination and planning loading and discharging operations of general cargo ships, Ro-Ro ships, tankers and bulk carriers.

• Daily contact with Port Authority regarding arrival, berthing, operations and sailing of the ships under Lachmann’s agency responsibility.

• Contact and contracts negotiations with Dock Workers Union, Longshoremen, Cargo Coopers and Watchmen Union.



S.A. Marítima Eurobras Agente e Comissária (1978 to 1979)

• Boarding Agent

• Attendance of all agency matters of vessels discharging fertilizers, loading agricultural products, steel products and tanker ships.

• Preparation of documents for inward and outward clearance.

• Assistance to the Master and Crew.

• Assistance to On-signers and Off-signers.

• Contact with Customs, Port Health and Immigration Authorities, Consulates and Diplomatic Offices.

• Contact with Pilots, Tug boat Companies, Dock Co. Wharfage Dept. and Cargo Terminals.

• Coordination of bunkering and fresh water supply.

• Contacts with PANDI Clubs and Underwriters.

• Preparation of NOR, SOF, Mate’s Receipts, Delivery and Redelivery Certificates, Time Sheets, Letters of Protest, Cargo Damage Report, Stevedores Damage Report, amongst others.

• Preparation and transmission of arrival and sailing messages to all concerned parties



Hamburg Sud Agencias Maritimas Ltda. (1977 to 1978)

• Employed as Assistant to the Container Department

• Promoted to the position of Boarding Agent

• Attendance of agency matters on the general cargo liner ships

• Attending bulk carriers operated by BSA – Bulk South America

• Preparation of documents for inward and outward clearance.

• Assistance to the Master and Crew.

• Assistance to On-signers and Off-signers.

• Contact with Customs, Port Health and Immigration Authorities, Consulates and Diplomatic Offices, Pilots and tug boat companies.
