Experience
7/06-11/06 US ARMY CORP of ENGINEERS, Vicksburg, MS DECKHAND, seasonal position, working with the Corp's Mat Sinking Unit along the Lower Mississippi and Atchafalaya River during low water. Duties included: tying off mat to river bank, sparring barges according to length of mat, cutting off mat, splicing cables, and building tow for transit to new jobsite.* 5/01-7/06 SELF EMPLOYED, Savannah, TN. COMMERCIAL MUSSEL DIVER, seasonal occupation, responsible for gathering shells from riverbed and selling to a local buyer.Used this as supplemental income during times away from occupation.* 4/05-9/05 MEMCO BARGE, Cape Girardeau, MO. LEADMAN, constant communications with captain tow work and transits thru locks and bridges; patrols on tow including but not limited to safety concerns, damage control, waste mgt., and general security of vessel and product.*1/02-3/05 INGRAM BARGE, Paducah, KY. LEADMAN, involved in deck preservation progects on the vessel, helped train new hires onboard to provide a more efficient crew status,assisted teaching company training school, routinely audited crew to raise safety awareness, built tows for locking rivers such as the Tennessee,Cumberland,Ohio,Illinois,and Upper Mississippi River.*3/99-10/01 SEAFARER'S INTERNATIONAL UNION, Camp Springs, MD. ABLE BODIED SEAMAN, unlimited waters, stood helm watch on different types of vessels including a cargo ship,tanker,swath,and research ship. Deck equipment used during voyages are as follows; electric cranes,booms,winches, hydraulic hoists and davits, pneumatic tools for deck progects, steam and hydraulic gypsyheads for mooring operations.*3/98-11/98 TRICO MARINE, Houma, LA. ABLED BODIED SEAMAN, offshore supply vessel, team member while mooring to offshore to rig, overseer of all deck activities where safety of personnel and equipment are of extreme importance, assisted engineer with hooking up hosiery from rig to vessel.*9/92-9/96 US NAVY, San diego, CA. QUARTERMASTER/NAVIGATOR, Soley performed all ship control,navigation,bridge watch duties,maintained ship's log,corrected all necessary charts and publications for area deployed to,operated equipment such as GPS,radar,gyros,and navigation tools.

Able to quickly acess the condition of a vessel, and supplies needed for a vessel to continue its mission. Very comfortable talking ship's business with longshoremen to achieve most efficient mooring or on/off loading of supplies etc. Experience talking with people from many foriegn countries in order to complete a deck activity.
