Gas Turbine Engineering Assessor, ATG San Diego, CA October 2007 - Present

As one of eighteen Afloat Training Group (ATG) engineering assessors in the US Navy, ensured thirty six Navy ships were in compliance with all Federal, State and Navy standards. Professionally mentored ship’s Chief Engineer’s prior to and during unit level training and assessments. As Project Officer, coordinated travel and led ten man engineering and damage control inspection teams. Prepared and finalized reports on the status of engineering training, equipment status, and operations for the Pacific Fleet ships.

• Raised the overall training readiness of Pacific Fleet assets

• Responsible for the training of prospective Chief Engineers of the Pacific Fleet

• Qualification board member for new Engineering Assessors

Forward Liaison Naval Officer Zamboanga, PI February 2008 – August 2008

While assigned to ATG, volunteered for Individual Augmentation (IA) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)-Philippines. Directly contributed in the enhancement of Armed Forces Philippines capacity as a front-line GWOT total force partner. Ingrained in the planning and coordination of U.S. and Philippine military assets. Coordinated all cargo, mail and high priority equipment requirements within areas of operation. Selected by Joint Special Forces Task Group - Philippine (JSOTF-P) Commander as Coalition Training Liaison Officer. Directly responsible to JSOTF-P commander and Western Mindanao Commander (WESMINCOM) in assisting and training of the Philippine Navy fleet. Administered programs designed to maintain and improve combat and engineering readiness of Philippine Navy Fleet. Determined efficiency rating of ships by planning, organizing, conducting, or evaluating competitions and exercises. Conducted assessments of ships ability to plan and conduct force protection, anti-terrorism and engineering training. Worked closely with JSOTF-P, WESMINCOM, ships, Philippine Special Forces, security officers and disaster preparedness officers.

Chief Engineering, USS McClusky (FFG) San Diego, CA April 2006 - October 2007

Administered the ship’s engineering department. Directed operation and maintenance of propulsion, auxiliary machinery, and electric power equipment. Directed maintenance and repair of small boat machinery, damage repair equipment, and all repairs to ship’s hull and keel. Directed the procurement and use of fuel, lubricants, spare parts, and other engineering equipage. Maintained a comprehensive maintenance program. Planned, coordinated and successfully executed four maintenance availabilities and two dry docks under budget. Directed preparation of required engineering records and reports. Directly responsible for the training, evaluation, and discipline of four divisions comprised of seventy to eighty crew members.

• Recognized by a Congressional mandated inspection team as having the best inspection of a frigate in ten years.

• Recognized by two Commanding Officers as the best department head out of five onboard.

• Department received two Navy engineering awards for energy conservation and self sufficiency.

Gas Turbine Engineering Assessor (UI) San Diego, CA December 2005 – April 2006

Temporarily assigned to Afloat Training Group San Diego (ATGSD) as Gas Turbine Engineering Assessor under instruction; duties included learning the basic mission of ATGSD, assessing the training needs and coordinating and providing basic level training for ships deployed within the Pacific Theater.



Department Head School Newport, RI February 2005 – February 2006

Training prepared Mid-Grade Surface Warfare Officers to confidently and competently execute department head level duties in surface ships. Training included basic engineering and combat theory. Provided advanced training in management and technical areas to support assignment as Chief Engineer.



Naval Post Graduate School Monterey, CA December 2003 – January 2005

Graduate School of Business and Public Policy, Financial Management. The Defense-Focused MBA program provided an advanced education in interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving and policy analysis by applying quantitative, financial, economics, information technology, and other state-of-the-art management techniques and concepts to military management and policy issues. Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - International (AACSB) and by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA).



Junior Officer Detailer, Bureau NPC Millington, TN July 2002 – December 2003

Directly responsible for balancing the career needs and personal desires of Surface Warfare Officers (SWO). Detailed over 500 SWO’s to special programs, ashore and afloat commands. Traveled extensively throughout the country to bring detailing information to the waterfront and accession sources. Selected as Administrative Assistant for all major boards. Provided expert assistance to senior officers and ensured optimal readiness of records through extensive fitness report screening. Handpicked by the Surface Warfare community as the Washington and Naval Personnel Command Placement Officer. Maintained Joint Staff manning at 100% during a period of severe officer inventory shortages. Daily responsibilities included working with the highest levels within Joint Staff and Navy Personnel Command. Entrusted as an expert in officer manpower matters and placement screening.

Assistant Training Officer, MCMRON 3 Ingleside, TX January 2001- June 2002

Administered personnel and team training programs for nine Mine Counter measure ships. Developed and adjusted instructional programs to conform to the ship’s operational schedule. Conferred with officers in charge of schools, instructors and ships Commanding Officers to determine causes of classroom failure. Directed the procurement of training aids through the supply department to improve instruction. Oversaw the advancement programs of nine ships for enlisted sailors as well as the voluntary educational programs. Assisted Squadron Operation Officer in the coordination of the ship’s operations and tactical planning. Conferred periodically with commanding officers and department heads in preparation of ship’s operational and training schedules. Conducted briefings on mine counter measures, operational information, tactics, and movements.

Electrical Officer, USS Antietam (CG) San Diego, CA February 1999 – December 2000

As Electrical Officer, administered operation, repair, overhaul and alteration of shipboard electrical equipment such as generators, lighting, ventilation, motors, pumps, and compressors. Scheduled and supervised repair work. Planned preventative maintenance and conducted operational tests of ship’s electrical systems. Responsible for the electrical safety onboard the ship. Conducted initial and annual electrical safety training for all hands. As Ships Maintenance and Material Officer (SMMO), coordinated one major and five routine maintenance availabilities effectively planning and coordinating repair activities throughout the ship. Handpicked by the Commanding Officer to serve as the Acting Chief Engineer (ACE) from June – August 2000 because of superior leadership and managerial expertise.

Division Officer School Newport, RI May 1998 – December 1998

Division Officer Course included classroom, simulator, laboratory, Damage Control wet trainer, firefighting and basic Officer Leadership courses. Other training objectives included basic principles of electricity, thermodynamics, and chemistry as applied to gas turbine propulsion plant systems. Additionally, the course included instruction on material maintenance and engineering administration.
