Port Engineer
Develop new engineering contract work specifications for 9 fleet vessels. Responsible for the timely and cost-effective planning, maintenance, repair, modification, and refurbishment projects of existing fleet. Act as Quality Assurance Inspector for needs and adherence to contracting, safety specifications and standards during vessel maintenance availabilities. Developed scope of work and cost estimates for work estimated at $2.7 million. Research, review and provide feedback on proposed specifications. Monitor project progress and contractors to proactively address potential issues. Review technical content of contractor change orders including government estimates prior to final approval. Ensure compliance of all safety regulations within the industry. Ensures all vessel personnel are properly trained, qualified and comply with regulatory, safety training and/or certification requirements.
USCG Group- Air Station Atlantic City 11/98-9/02
Facilities Chief
Responsible for the planning, renovation and maintenance of 38 housing units totaling a combined 200,000+ sq. ft. (Including Air Station). As senior manager of the maintenance division, oversee a staff of 17 subordinates. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, standards and guidelines, Define scope of work, inspect and review work area quality, accuracy, completeness and adherence to safety regulations. Develop and implement personnel qualification standards such as safety, health and best practices/procedures. Responsible for budget in excess of $85,000.
USCG Training Center Cape May 9/96-11/98
Housing Maintenance Supervisor
Senior manager of maintenance division, oversee a staff of 4 subordinates. Responsible for the maintenance and safety concerns for 172 housing units totaling 235,000 sq ft. Resolve resident issues/inquiries and complaints concerning housing units. Inspect and review work area quality, accuracy, completeness and adherence to safety regulations. Oversee annual budget of over $180,000.
USCGC HORNBEAM/USCGC KENNEBEC 2/93-9/96
Emergency Management Specialist
Repair locker leader; oversee all emergency equipment, direct firefighters on firefighting strategy in drill and in crisis. Lead fire fighting and damage control teams numbering 12 and 18 persons. Maintain fire fighting systems and equipment such as pumps, fire extinguishers, hose and nozzle maintenance. Responsible for maintaining watertight integrity of boat consisting of maintenance of doors, hatches and scuttles. Operate crane as needed. Inspect contract shipyard work for quality assurance and safety compliance.

Facility Maintenance Technician
Provide day to day building maintenance, repair and operational tasks in support of Coast Guard operations. Inspect building areas for preventative maintenance and react to unplanned maintenance needs for facilities as assigned. Provide remodeling expertise, ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical specifications. Act as crew leader during the construction of an on-base US Post Office and Admiral’s office. Qualified fire chief, engineer, fire fighter. Built custom furnishings as requested.
