Cochin Port Trust is a Major Port in India. It handles around 17 Million Tonnes of Cargo annually comprising of POL(75%), Containers (15%), Break Bulk cargo (4%) and Dry Bullk (Coal, iron ore , Fertilizers etc) (6%). The port is equipped with 3 Tanker berths, 1 SPM facility for crude oil handling, 2 coal berths, 2 container berths , 1 fully automated fertilizer berth , 1 berth exclusively for cement handling ( on Private participation) and 6 general cargo berths.
Currently the Port is in the process of developing a Port based Special Economic Zone. The major ongoing projects are
1) Development of an International container transshipment terminal
2) Logistics/ distribution Park
3) LNG regasification terminal
4) LPG rebottling plant
5) Shore tank facilities for Kochi refineries
6) Multi user liquid terminal etc
Responsibilities
Requirement study, mapping, tendering & allotment of Port based SEZ area for optimum usage. Monitoring of Physical & Financial progress of construction activities in the SEZ area. Submission of routine returns related with land usage, investment & labour employed to Development Commissioner, Govt. of India as required under SEZ rules 2006 . Compliance with other regulations of SEZ act 2005 and SEZ rules 2006, Govt.of India. Interacting with potential investors. Customs formalities for DTA and transshipment containers in the SEZ area. Streamlining of multi modal cargo movements in the SEZ area . Trade meets with potential users. Liasoning with Civil,Mechanical & Marine engineering divisions for proper upkeep of infrastructure facilities like roads , effluent treatment, power distribution , quays, equipments and channels . Shipping and Logistics. Development of a new Business district.
Implementation of Cargo, Traffic, HR, Project Systems , PM , MM and related modules in SAP ECC 6.0.
Achievements: Worked to the satisfaction of the management. Foreseeing the traffic congestion and pollution devised a new means for transfer of containers to the new transshipment terminal using Ro-Ro vessels. Preparation of tenders and awarding of contract for Ro-Ro/Lo-Lo barge operations. Quality council member for ISO 9001-2008. Implementation of Cargo, Traffic, HR, Project Systems , PM , MM and related modules in SAP ECC 6.0.
