Pipe Manager

Objective


To fulfill a Manager/Superintendent position in Pipe or Outfitting in Ship Repair or New Construction. Being highly skilled in various fields of shipbuilding having working knowledge and management experience in Pipefitting,Welding, Outside Machinist, Sheet Metal, Marine Decking, Structural Foundations, Turn Key Equipment Packages, Unit Fabrication and Ship Erection I bring an assortment of talents that I feel could offer cost savings on projects and minimize schedule impacts.


Experience


Sept 2008 to Present--General Pipe Superintendent-Northrop Grumman Ship Systems-LPD 25 Program-Responsibilities include but are not limited to overall management of pipe craft, which includes manning, budgets, schedule, cost, quality, safety,and tooling. Manage two Pipe Superintendents, one Welding Superintendent, Five General Pipe Foremen, one Welding General Foreman, two Welding Foremen, Fifteen Pipe Foremen, and 180 to 350 pipefitters and welders. Control all manning and overtime within established guidelines and budgets to accomplish Company objectives. Closely worked with planning and engineering to help mitigate recurrences of problematic areas on subsequent hulls. Maintain liason at all levels within the company, vendors, customers, and regulatory bodies. Saved 8000 manhours on the LPD 23 program by implementing a material tracking and delivery program.



OCT 2007 to Sept 2008--Pipe Superintendent-NGSS-LPD 25 Program--Responsible for Float off for LPD 21 and the start up of LPD 23 managing 3 Gen. Foremen, 10 Foremen, and 180 pipefitters, pipe testers, and pipe welders. Daily planning and weekly forecast of scheduled work, material, tooling and most of the duties afore mentioned. Instrumental in the launch of LPD 21 without any under water line problems. Completed all Main and Auxliary Machinery Space bildges ahead of schedule on LPD 23.



July 2001 to Oct 2007--Division Manager--Hiller Systems INC.-Mobile, Al.--Responsible for annual and quarterly divisions projections, division forecast, expense reports, expense budgets, monthly job bookings, billing, budget reports, close out documents, change orders, new projects and the estimating of, accounts receivables within my divison, procurement of material. Manage supervision and crews working in Marine Decking, Fire Suppression Systems (marine & commercial), and Marine Piping Systems (Pot Water, Grey& Black, Hydraulic, Steam, Chill Water, etc..). Experience in estimating a my familiarity with products helped capture new lines of work. Designed Bottle Racks for Hiller Systems to use with the Indian Navy and TAKs built at NASSCO.



Dec 2000 to June 2001--Halter Marine Pascagoula--Gen. Outfitting Superintendent--Left due to Bankruptcy by company--Oversee and supervise all operations pertaining to Pipe, Electrical, Outside Machinist, Paint, Structural Steel Foundations, and Sub-Contractors. Worked closely with 4 Craft Superindents, 8 Foremen, and 80 craft workers. Duties afore mentioned. Instrumental in development of Turn Key Equipment Package Units for the Pasha Car Carrier.



Feb 1980 to Dec 2000--First Class Pipe Fitter, Foreman, Gen. Foreman, Superintendent, Gen. Outfitting Superintendent, Plant Manager (Tallulla, La. operations). Be glad to give details of each position upon request. Only individual to every have full responsibilities for all craft outfitting in Sub Unit and Unit design. Instrumental in Turn Key Package Unit design for TAO, LSD, Polar, CV, Ice Breaker, and LPD programs. Worked 7 years in Repair where I participated in all aspects of ship construction and repair from barges to semi submersible rigs.



July 1978 to Feb 1980--Plumbing Sub-Contractor--Had my own business subing to a variety of Contractors.



Feb 1969 to July 1978--United States Navy (Construction Battalions--SEABEES)--Honorable Discharge--Many awards, letters of appreciation and recognition for performance above expectatons. Awarded Sailor of the month twice, sailor of the quarter once, and was nominated for salior of the year for outstanding service and dedication,

I am an active community individual who has been happily married for 38 years with 3 grown sons. My wife and I enjoy fishing and playing golf. We are very active church members. I am a soloist sing Gospel music and also enjoy teaching Adult Sunday School Classes.
