Experience
I was graduated from the Istanbul Technical University Maritime Faculty on 2002. After graduation till April 2004, I worked on several shipping companies as an ocean going deck officer. From August 2004 till September 2006, I worked as a Port State Control Officer and Flag State Inspector at Istanbul District. Our inspections were mainly focused on onboard implementation of national and international rules and regulations which were based on the relevant codes and conventions on all kind of vessels. In order to be a PSC officer I had to attend on several internal and external training programs which were mainly given by the experienced Flag state inspectors and Paris MOU’s PSCOs. I attended also on USCG‘s Marine Casualty Investigation Course in order to be a Marine Casualty Investigator.
From March of 2007 till August of 2008, I worked on training ships which are belong to Korea Maritime University as instructor for Maritime English and PSC topics. Since August of 2008, I am working for Germanisher Lloyd at Regional Training Center Busan as Head of Training Center. I am in charge, all kind of surveyor training activities and further training activities in the region of Asia Pacific except China. Since I am working for GL, I had superior responsibility for more than 100 surveyors with different nationalities who have trained and appointed as surveyor. In GL, appointment as surveyor takes 4 to 12 months depends on experience/ background of surveyor. Also I was in charge for organizing more than 100 internal and external seminars. This job gave me chance to develop communication and management skills in an international and diverse expert’s environment.
I completed doctoral course at Korean Maritime University in August 2010. I have worked on marine traffic engineering field during PhD course and subject of my dissertation is “A study on local marine traffic management to promote maritime traffic safety in the Istanbul Strait”. I have utilized various models and tools i.e. real time simulator, marine traffic fast time simulation, SPSS version 13.0 and ES Model for my researches. Beside Turkish and English, also I can speak Korean.
