Royal Navy (1985 – present)
• Manager 5.5 years:
Onboard two warships as the Chief Bosuns Mate and as an Instructor of new recruits at entry level and promotion courses for Royal Navy employees at HMS Raleigh
• Team Leader/Instructor 13 years:
Onboard five warships and as an instructor of new recruits at entry level
• Team member 6 years:
Onboard two warships qualifying for the next higher position and embedding core skills
Respnsibilities:
• Pastoral manager of employees
• Direct the manufacture, maintenance, and repair of all rigging equipment.
• Plan and record maintenance of equipment ranging from cranes, boats to safety and survival equipment
• Survey of all rigging equipment including structural problems associated with lifting equipment
• Develop and manage professional progression and personal development of Royal Navy employees including performance reports.
• Solely responsible for the safety of personnel when involved in seamanship evolutions including boat operations and developing personnel in taking charge of evolutions
• Carry out regular reviews of planned maintenance and periodicity. Instigating and administering changes as required
• Responsible for legal requirements concerning lifting equipment supply, use and upkeep including documentation
• Responsible for sea survival training for all personnel onboard RN warships
• Produce and monitor Health and Safety Risk Assessments.

Key Achievements
• Project manager and user stakeholder for the implementation of a new specialisation (Seaman Specialist branch) in the Royal Navy for the entire project life cycle (Prince 2 and APMP) including benefits realisation during the Royal Navy personnel change programme.
• User stakeholder and team manager for fit of the Navy’s latest rigid inflatable boat to type 22 warships including developing and implementing user approved codes of practice.
• Awarded Second Sea Lord commendation for the services beyond those of a Petty Officer in the Royal Navy.
• Successfully regenerated warships Northumberland (2004 in Rosyth) and Cumberland (2007 in Devonport) out of refit closely liaising with Babcock Marine personnel involved in the managing and the manufacture of rigging equipment keeping within the subscribed budget for rigging.
• Successfully deployed to many arduous deployments including Northern Ireland (1987), Iran / Iraq war (1988), both Gulf conflicts(1991 and 2003) and several anti-piracy,anti drug patrols in the Middle East and West Indies
