Objective
To obtain a position with an established organization which will allow me the opportunity to apply my skills and achieve my highest potential.
Experience
Beginning in 1990, I started my career as an Outside Machinist in a local yard working primarily on sportfishing and Coast Guard vessels. My primary duties were related to propulsion systems and thier associated sub-systems. Vessels would arrive in various states to the yard at which point repairs would be delegated by the yard foreman to be carried out by myself and other machinists. This ranged from routine maintenance to complete tear down and rebuilding of anything mechanical.
From 1993 - 2004, I took this experience to sea where I crewed a variety of vessels operating in Alaska, Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and the Mediterranean Sea. These vessels ranged from a 200 ton sport diving boat with twin DDC Series 60 engines up to a 211,000 DWT VLCC powered by a Sulzer 8RTA84 rated at 55,000 HP. Much of the work completed was underway maintenance, however I did paricipate in the overhaul of a 3000 Kw auxiliary generator. I also did a yard period aboard sister cruise ships in which the auxilary power generators and a main engine were rigged out of the vessels, rebuilt and reinstalled. I also assisted in bringing the plants back online and running them through thier paces during sea trials, ensuring that the work performed was to standard, making adjustments as needed.
From 2005 - 2006, I primarily worked in temporary staffing agencies due to unresolved issues with the Department of Child Support services which made it near impossible to maintain any type of "income". Manageable terms were finally agreed upon in August of 2006 where I took a seasonal position operating and maintaining heavy agricultural equipment used to cultivate and harvest tomatoes. Though none of this was maritime realted, much of the equipment has uses or has been modified for use in maritime applications.
In 2007 through January 2008, I entered college where I completed coursework with Honors for a Career Certificate in Advanced Transportation Technology.
In June 2008 until toady I maintain employment as a mechanic working primarily on automobiles, however often other equipment such as machinery, trucks, and forklifts.
