Ordinary Seaman (OS)

Objective


I would like to pursue a maritime career that will provide the training and promotional opportunities for me to excell up to a mate or even a master rating. I would perfer to work in the inshore/coastal tug boat and salvage communities.


Experience


1987-89 Worked part-time on Dive Boats out of San Pedro, Ca. as Dive Master for the SCUBA Shop, "Undersea Showcase" in Upland, Ca. Monitored divers time and assisted with student divers equipment.

1987-89 Worked as a commercial and residential painter for "Fire House Painting Co.", Mt Baldy, Ca.

1990-91 Served as a Seaman aboard a US Coast Guard 110' Patrol Boat (Cutter "Petrel", Key West, Fl.) Performed helmsman and lookout duties while underway. Member of firefighting party, maintained survival equipment, cleaned and painted vessel inport. Handled lines and assisted with small boat lowering detail.

1991-94 Served as Health Services Technican/EMT (Corpman)assigned to Coast Guard Air Station/Group, San Diego, Ca. Held routine sick-call, dispensed medications, performed blood draws and suturing, gave injections, flew medical evacuation missions aboard helicopters and air planes and serves as Medical Liaison with the local US Navy Medical activities in the San Diego area.

1996 and later in 2000 Worked as a Life Guard and Pool Maintenance Diver at "Waterworld USA", a lagre aquatic park in sacramento, Ca. I cleaned and serviced the pumps and filters as required and performed corrosion control on piping. Also painted areas of the park, made minor repairs and performed general cleaning after hours.

1997 Cal-Dive Int., Morgan City, La. Worked as a Yard Hand in company ship yard. Performed cleaning, painting and sand blasting.


Education


High School Graduate

Two yrs. college (no degree)

Graduated from USCG Health Services and EMT school, Pataluma, Ca.

Graduated from Grant Maritime Technologies, Sacramento, Ca.


Certification


NAUI Open Water and Advanced Open Water SCUBA Diver Certificates.

First Aid and CPR

MMD/STCW with Tankship Asst. endorsment. Also, completed 88 hr. Able Seaman(AB)class room phase and the 30 hr. class room and pactical phases for Lifeboatman.


Skils


Sea survival, shipboard firefighting, basic damage control, First Aid and CPR, painting and corrosion control.


 


Mechanically inclined, knowledge of small boats, works well with others, enjoy being part of a team, clean record with no drug use and very motivated to excell in the industry.
