Responsible for internal USCG compliant inspections and ISM/ISO 9001 internal audits of Crowley’s East Coast and Gulf fleets and facilities to ensure compliance of Safety Management Standards. From a leadership position provided guidance of the continual improvement process. Responsibilities included identifying non-conformances, corrective actions and the effective management of the company’s Continual Improvement Program to conform to the applicable Safety, Environmental, and Quality Standards as well as the assessment and development of new processes, practices and company procedures and directives to ensure closed loop cooperated management processes. Responsible for conducting incident investigations to determine root causes and develop training programs or immediate Safety Stand Downs to eliminate future occurrences which resulted in printed or verbal communications to the fleet. Responsible for providing the business unit leadership with operational support to mitigated and reduce personal injuries, hull and machinery, and environmental damages, and for the implementation of safety and environmental awareness, and incentive programs. Responsible for maintaining positive relations with all federal, state and local governmental regulatory agencies. Served as Company’s Designated Person Ashore and Company Security Officer for all East Coast and Gulf of Mexico towing vessels The number of Injuries/Incidents in assigned area reduced significantly between 2002 and 2010 Served as Company Project Operations and Safety Manager for Overseas projects in West Africa and Sakhalin Island, Russia Prepared the Company’s management system manual which is the main manual that documents procedures and processes that is now being used by all fleet towing vessels. Acted as chairman and endorser of the Vessel Operations Manual Committee for all updates and revision to the manual. This manual documents all Deck and Engineering processes used throughout the entire fleet. Implemented ISO 9001 and ISO 1400 for Crowley’s East Coast and Gulf vessels Shore side Operations Served as a member of the USCG Towing Advisory Committee from 2002 to present
Operations Manager, Contracts - Houston, TX 1998 – 2002
Responsible for the operational management of all towing vessels assigned to the US Gulf Contract Services. Responsibilities included management of marine operations in support the fleet of ocean going vessels engaged in specialized contract, salvage and rescue towing. Also responsible for being the operational liaison for the Houston based Contract Group. Served as Onsite Operations Manager for various contracted projects in West Africa, Central America and South America
