Objective
I am looking for year round employment. My objective is to enter the maritime industry within a company who is willing to groom, train, educate, and promote empoloyees. I would like to enter into the feild, working from my 15 years of deep foundation construction background, and the most recent 11 years operating my own small craft,as some sort of rigger/deckhand/operator. My goal is to re-enter the work force, after unsuccessfully running my own small business since fall of 2000, and eventually being a valued employee making top pay, able to pay my bills and support my family. I would like to be in a postion of supervising crews and having some hands on work duties as well. I say hands on in a limited way I spent 15 years laboring for little more then a broken body.
Experience
1985 thru 1990 H.E. Sargent constructors
Deep foundation and bridge work, concrete form mechanic, welder, piledriverman, laborer. Responsibilties were to preform all duties from driving piles to placing bridge decks. Rigging was foremost duty.
1990- 2000 Wyman and Simpson
Started as form mechanic within 3 weeks I was promoted too foreman. In 1995 I was promoted to general foreman. My duties were vast, form carpenter, rebar installer, iron worker, piledriverman, rigger, grade foreman, crew foreman. I ordered materials, coordinated equipment logistics, maintained job log and crew hours. In fact I was often refered too by the owner of the company as his number 1 laborer. My most major achievement with this company was my fast promotions. I started at $9/per hour and at the end I was salary for 56K year.
2000-2011 Maine Seaduck Guide Service
I left construction when I reached the maximum pay level and started this company. My duties where everything as the sole propreitor. I like to say I was the cheif cook and bottle washer. After leaving construction I tested and was issued a Maine State guides license, commercial boat operators license. I also was tested and issued a OUPV license for inland State of Maine waters.

Skils
Carpentry, masonry, iron work, rigging, crew management. I have the past 11 years of small boat operation. I have been successful and soley reponsible for safe operation, maintainence and navigation of my small craft. I operate in foul weather in close proximity to both visible and underwater obstructions.
I made a mistake in 2000, leaving construction. I chose to take a chance on myself to better my income, increase my family time, and improve my families quality of life. The one thing, coincidently the most important thing, I have been successful at is improving/increasing my family time. Out of shear determination/stubborness I forced my company to work finacially for awhile. However now for the past year or so it just is not working anymore. I have no regrets, afterall it takes confidence to invest in yourself, and it takes broad shoulders to admit defeat. My business failed due to my inabilities as a businessman. In retrospect it is easy to see I should not have left Wyman and Simpson, and the career I was building there. That ship has sailed, as has my desire to be a deep foundation constructor. I truly am a hard working dedicated individual. I am looking to join a company who refers to its employees as 'family'. I am a team player with a variety of skills to offer. I do not know what direction to steer for a career, however the past 11 years as a 'tillerman' have been exciting. I know I want a career on the water, I just do not know the 'job' for which to apply. I offer employers my drive, loyalty, dedication, ability to learn, and willingness to travel in return for acceptable pay, family time, and mutual commitment. I say I will travel and I stand by that statement, I do require family time. I understand there are jobs where 'weeks on' then 'weeks off' are avalible. This is certainly an option. I do not mind hard labor, I am willing to learn. I can 'upgrade' my current license if needed. To close if given a chance I know I can meld into the right company.
