Experience


Graham Gulf, Inc Irvington, AL

General Manager October 1999-Present



Negotiated; sales of long term contracts and contract renewals that generated 54% increase each year, and a total 380% increase in gross annual revenues. Implemented cost cutting budgets in procurement and operations to reflect a positive profit and loss statement. Assisted in the design and supervised the construction of new generation crew boats. Created; the demand to increase the fleet from 3 operating vessels to 20, with 5 more to be delivered in the next year. Recruited; more than 150 new employees from 12 to meet the increasing fleet demands. Managed all aspects of; office administration, personnel, vessel certifications, payroll, insurance, invoicing, workers compensation, and all profit and loss issues. Wrote and implemented the safety program to ISO/ISM standards for the fleet. Supervised; all subordinate managers in their maintenance and management of their assigned crew and vessels, which included hands on mechanical repairs.



Global Industries New Iberia, LA

Safety Representative August 1999 – October 1999



Supervised; the safety management program in four separate divisions: Diving, Transportation, Vessel Fleet, and shore based facilities. Reduced; the total recordable incident rate by 65% in all four divisions. Assisted; in the revision of Global Industries company wide Safety Management System. Implemented; the tracking of the Safety data for each division.



Tidewater Marine Amelia, LA

Safety Representative of World Wide Operations/Assistant Operations Manager/Marine Superintendent/Port Engineer/Sr. Fleet Captain.

September 1992 – March 1999



July 1995, promoted to Safety Representative. Managed the implementation and supervision of the fleet safety program, drug and alcohol program. Performed vessel and shore side installation safety audits world wide. Traveled extensively to South America, Africa, Asia and other foreign nations as needed to implement Tidewater’s safety, drug and alcohol program, and to ensure compliance with foreign governmental regulations.

September 1993, promoted to Marine Superintendent. Maintained and managed the maintenance, regulatory compliance, operations, personnel, and procurement of needed equipment for daily operation and repairs.

March 1993, promoted to Port Engineer. Managed and maintained 16 vessels for engine and hull maintenance, regulatory compliance, and general operations.

September 1992, hired as Senior Fleet Captain. Managed; all aspects of deck crew training, work schedules, safety meetings, drills and vessel maintenance, which included high performance crew boat engines. Maintained deck logs and computer generated reports for daily vessel operations.



Five Star Marine New Orleans, LA

Senior Fleet Captain/Assistant Port Captain November 1976 –September1992



Operated the vessel assigned. Duties included the safe operation and management of the vessel. Wrote and assisted in the implementation of the safety program.

Assisted the Port Captain and relieved him when on vacation or otherwise unavailable.

Evaluated all new hire Captains for proficiency. Trained personnel as needed for promotion to different levels as needed in the fleet. Supervised equipment repairs for the fleet including hands on mechanical repairs. Managed; vessels regulatory dry dockings. Delivered all new generation vessels built for the fleet and trained the crews in proper safety procedures and maintenance.



John E. Graham & Sons Bayou La Batre, AL

Captain/Senior Training Captain June 1973–November 1976



One of the youngest persons in the United States to be licensed as a vessel Master.

Safely operated and managed assigned vessel. Trained and evaluated new hire and newly licensed Captains for proficiency. Mastered the first vessel to operate in the exploration of mineral and oil off the Florida coast. Mastered the first oil spill and containment vessel.



G&M Boat Rentals Grand Isle, LA

Deckhand/Engineer/Unlicensed Vessel Master January 1972-June 1973



Carried out assigned duties as ordered by the vessel Master. Promoted to Engineer after two weeks as deckhand. Responsible for the maintenance of all vessel equipment including engines, generators, pumps, and all equipment pertinent to the safe navigation of the vessel. Promoted to unlicensed Master after four weeks as Engineer. Responsible for the safe navigation and management of the assigned vessel.
