Ship Maintenance Officer, United States Navy, Honolulu, HI 2004-2005
Responsible to the Commander Hawaii Regional Maintenance Center for ship maintenance and repair. Responsible for coordinating available regional maintenance and logistic providers to ensure on-time service and delivery.
Director of Training, United States Navy, San Diego, CA 2002-2004
Responsible to the ship’s commanding officer for ship training, schooling and readiness. Liasioned with department heads, division heads and external training providers to identify training deficiencies and scheduling. Administered the division officer training program bringing a defunct program to full function, which trained and qualified new division officers in 25% less time. Prepared reports for executive department review supporting the planning of the operational schedule.
Division Officer, United States Navy, San Diego, CA 2000-2002
Managed the electrical distribution system and electrical safety program on a U.S. Navy warship. Managed 13 electricians during a 6-month deployment and two-and-a-half month 5 million dollar maintenance availability. Identified the need to upgrade the ship’s security lighting system. Researched and documented all technical and cost requirements which resulted in reduced manpower needs for lighting system activation.

Managed a casualty response station consisting of 36 personnel. Identified personnel strengths and weaknesses for team position assignments and directed the assignment and training of personnel in team positions and casualty response duties. Maintained and tracked personnel skill development and oversaw the proper control and upkeep of assigned station equipment. Coordinated the receipt, prioritization and reporting of emergency casualty response actions to a central control station.

Coordinated, scheduled and tracked critical and emergent ship repair and maintenance requests, during a 21-month period, for U.S. and foreign Navy ships often on a short-notice basis. Served as a liaison to senior staff officers; consulted them on work status and progress resulting in work completion during constrained time periods and within fiscal budgets.
Managed and coordinated $1 Million dollars in maintenance and repair work assigned to 4 different regional maintenance activities and various contractors for 30 visiting ships during the 2004 Multinational Pacific Rim Exercise, including coordination with supply and logistic agencies enabling exercise participants to meet operational commitments with no major equipment discrepancies.
Designed and coordinated maintenance availability work packages, totaling $80Thousand dollars, assigned to the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. Developed a comprehensive work summary report that allowed for easy tracking of maintenance work items. Identified ship maintenance requests that could be accomplished utilizing available shipyard manpower levels and capabilities and within the fiscal maintenance budget.
Directed the training and mission readiness function on a 200 member crew U.S. Navy ship across 6 departments and 20 divisions. Identified needed school requirements and operational exercises to meet fleet standards and targeted 70% completion rates. Received the highest evaluation grades in 12 of 13 assessment areas during a condensed 7 week training cycle and received the Mission Efficiency Award.
