1992 - 2001 - Worked in the Merchant Navy as a Deck officer for a variety of Shipping Companies. In 2001 commenced career in the defence forces in the Irish Naval Service.

On 01st Nov 09, Commenced Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Nautical Science.

To date, I have gained a vast amount of experience both at sea as a Deck Officer in the Merchant Navy and also, in shore Based appointments in the Irish Naval Service as an Operations Branch Officer. I have vast experience on a variety of vessels and am qualified in all repects.
From 1992 to 2001, I gained valuable experience as a Deck Cadet and Ships Officer on a variety of vessels. During my service in the Irish NS, I have gained further experience, both at sea and ashore, including in Shore Based appointments as Administration Officer Naval College and as Recruit Training Officer.
I am currently in a Shore Based appointment, carrying out the roles and responsibilities as Harbour Master and Officer in charge of Naval Boat Transport. These appointments have furthered my skills and experience and I feel that I have the necessary attributes to be a suitable candidate for the vacancies that are available.
I am a competent and efficient administrator who plans and organises diligently that can meet the demands of new responsibilities and roles. I have good communication skills and I have demonstrated that I perform well, both in a leadership role and also in a team environment. I am quick and keen learner and am reliable and trustworthy in character with experience in running various accounts that require budgetary control.
I am presently undergoing a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Nautical Science and will complete this in December 2010. I am also completing an Oceanograhy Module (Degree Level) in the National Maritime College Ireland.
