SSA Marine, Long beach, CA

Marine Terminal Superintendent, Pacific Container Terminal Rail Department, September 2004 to current

• Plan and coordinate Westbound and Eastbound trains with Burlington North Santa Fe (BNSF), Union Pacific (UP) and Pacific Harbor Line (PHL).

• Organize International Long Shore Union labor (ILWU) for on dock rail production from 20 men/women or (one gang) to 40 men/women or (two gangs).

• Communicate directly with Customs Border and Protection (CBP) for clearance on 100% of all Eastbound Rail cargo.

• Coordinate promptly with United Industries (UI) with clearance of railcar repair and Bad Order (BO) status on all railcars in the terminal to be loaded or discharged.

• Communicate with the Yard operation and Vessel operation before each shift about the projection of the shift to manage a productively safe environment and to give input on the following shifts anticipated needs and expectations.

• Cross trained with Vessel Operations and Yard Operations

• Managed three employees in day to day operations, including scheduling and implementation of multiple jobs.

Education


Santiago Canyon Community College – completed 40 credits toward BA degree with coursework in general education, geology and surveying.



Operations College – completed June 2006. Coursework directed to basics of Vessel operations and writing ship letters to introduction to various gear used in break bulk. Introduction to a variety of diverse terminal operations in Yard ops. To Vessel ops. To On dock Rail ops. Introduction to the Future of containerization. Where SSA Marine stands in business of stevedoring in the industry today. Introduction to Security of the Ports and Terminals.



Quality Education System Training (QES) – completion of (QES) classes June 2005. Coursework consisted of quality training in 100% 0 defects. How to manage day to day operations and have a low percentage of defects to 0 defects. Staying consistent in disciplining yourself to create a systematic method of your operation.
